Her voice began to tremble.

But Hayden could no longer hear what she was saying.

He stood frozen in place, the color draining slowly from his face.

He had always thought the company was his, that the money he spent was his own, and that he could use it as he pleased.

But now, the lawyer’s cold, hard facts told him nothing belonged to him.

Once his actions over the years were prosecuted, he would face real prison time.

He finally panicked.

He looked sharply at me, fear appearing in his eyes for the first time.

“Blake…” His voice shook. “You… you’ve been guarding against me this whole time?”

I looked at him, my eyes icy and empty. “Guarding against you?”

I let out a soft laugh. “I originally trusted you. Before we even got married, I told you that my family has very strict requirements for a live-in son-in-law. You were the one who said it didn’t matter.”

I paused.

“I planned to give you part of the shares once our child was born, so you could truly take on the position of CEO.” I lifted my gaze to him. “You just couldn’t hold onto it.”

I pulled a document out of my bag and threw it directly at his face. “Sign the divorce papers.”

The papers scattered and fell at his feet.

Hayden flinched as if stung.

In the next second, he lunged forward and grabbed my wrist. “Blake! Don’t do this! Please!”

His voice was desperate and strained. “Let’s go home and talk about this, alright? Things like this… we should settle them in private! There’s no need to turn this into such a public scene!”

He lowered his voice, urgent with threat and flattery. “If this drags on, the company’s reputation will be ruined! The stock price will drop! You’re a shareholder too-you can’t let that happen!”

I didn’t move.

He

grew more frantic. “And have you ever thought about this… If we really get divorced, what

happens to the company? Who can run a company this big without me? Can you find anyone bette

to be CEO?”

He stared at me desperately, clinging to his last hope. “And the baby! We’re having a child! The baby can’t grow up without a father!”

His voice softened suddenly, almost pitifully pleading. “I’ll cut ties with Nevaeh… I promise. I’ll only be with you from now on. I’ll resign. I’ll give up everything. I’ll stay home and take care of the baby. Blake, let’s start over, okay?”

Nevaeh behind him was completely broken, sobbing loudly. “Hayden, how could you do this to me? I’ve been with you for four years! I’m carrying your child now! How can you just abandon me like

this?”

“You said I was the only one! You only got close to Blake and married her because her family is rich! Didn’t you tell me you got tired of pretending with her a long time ago?”

“Shut up!” Hayden tried to silence her, but his voice lacked conviction. “Blake, don’t listen to her lies. The person I love most in this world is you!”

I slowly lifted my hand and pried his fingers off my wrist one by one.

I looked at him and spoke slowly, “You think… that I can’t do without you?”

“Sign it now. Otherwise…” I looked at him, my voice so calm it carried not a single ripple of emotion. “We’ll let the court decide. You wouldn’t want the whole circle to find out what you’ve really been up to all these years, would you?”
