He Signed Divorce Papers Then Found My Wedding Photo Chapter 03

After leaving Adrian’s company, I went straight to my mother-in-law’s house to pick up Milo.

Milo had been weak since birth, and with my husband, Logan Whitmore, away on assignment, Mrs. Whitmore had been helping me take care of him.

Before I left, I reminded her on purpose.

“Mom, if anyone comes looking for you in the next few days, don’t be scared.”

“My ex-husband found out I remarried. Logan already knows about his situation.”

Mrs. Whitmore smiled.

“Don’t worry, Evie. Over the years, plenty of people your father and Logan put away have tried to cause trouble. How many of them ever succeeded?”

“I’m not afraid, and you shouldn’t be either. If anything happens, call Logan. His assignment should be wrapping up soon, so he’ll probably be home before long.”

I nodded and left.

Milo had been quiet the whole time.

He was barely past his first month, so small in my arms that my heart softened every time I held him.

As I walked toward the entrance of my building, I leaned down and kissed his cheek.

But the next second, Milo suddenly started crying.

I frowned.

A bad feeling rose in my chest, and I quickened my pace toward home.

Sure enough, the moment I stepped out of the elevator, I saw Adrian standing outside my apartment door.

Two men stood behind him.

They were his men.

The second he saw me, his eyes narrowed on Milo in my arms. “Take the child,” he ordered coldly.

My heart dropped.

I turned and ran.

But someone grabbed me from behind, and Milo was torn from my arms.

“Give him back!”

My eyes stung as I screamed.

Milo was still crying, but one of the men clamped a hand tightly over his mouth. The sight nearly drove me insane.

“You said you got married and had a child.”

“But I checked everywhere, and there isn’t a single record of your marriage.”

Adrian’s expression hardened.

“This child just turned one month old, didn’t he? The timing lines up with our divorce.”

“Evelyn, you know my career is still on the rise. You knew I didn’t want a child. How dare you make that decision on your own and give birth to him?”

“No wonder you left so decisively back then. You were afraid I’d make you get rid of him, weren’t you?”

“He isn’t yours. He’s my husband’s child!”

My heart leaped into my throat as I struggled with everything I had and screamed.

“His identity is classified. That’s why you couldn’t find anything. Give Milo back to me right now, or when he comes home, he won’t let you get away with this!”

Adrian laughed in disbelief.

“You’re still lying at a time like this?”

“We’ll know whether he’s mine after a paternity test.”

With that, he turned and ordered, “Take the child to the hospital.”

“Yes, sir.”

The man holding Milo nodded and headed downstairs.

Milo’s cries gradually grew fainter.

“Give Milo back to me! Adrian Lancaster, you bastard!”

Cold sweat broke out all over me as I screamed.

“You can’t afford to mess with my husband. Give him back!”

They gripped my wrists until the skin turned red, and no matter how hard I struggled, it was useless.

To Adrian, my hysterical fury was nothing but a joke.

“Is there anyone in Harbor City I can’t afford to mess with?”

“Relax. If he isn’t mine, I won’t keep him.”

“But if he is my child, I can’t leave him for you to raise.”

After saying that, he turned and walked downstairs.

I was dragged down after him and shoved into Adrian’s car.

The entire ride, I fought desperately, but his men held me down so tightly that I couldn’t move.

I tried to call the police, but before I could even pull out my phone, Adrian took it from me.

He sounded impatient.

“You can go home once the results come out. What are you making a scene for?”

I was so furious and terrified that I wanted to stab him to death.

“Milo isn’t healthy. If anything happens to him because of you, I’ll kill you!”

“Adrian Lancaster, you’re nothing but a monster!”

He let me curse at him.

His gaze stayed indifferent the whole time, and he didn’t say a word.

Half an hour later, my voice was hoarse from screaming.

My arm had been scraped raw from struggling, and blood was seeping out.

Adrian opened the door and stepped out.

I was about to follow him and use the chaos to take Milo back, but he shoved me back into the car.

“Stay here. Until the results come out, you’re not going anywhere.”
