His Memory Reset To Love, My Heart Stuck At Goodbye Chapter 03

His Memory Reset To Love, My Heart Stuck At Goodbye Chapter 03

I lowered my gaze.

Six years ago, I had truly thought about ending everything with Alexander.

The first time his lips spoke Selina’s name, he was already rising in fame. His eyes would light up whenever he mentioned her.

“That girl really likes my music, she finds ways to compliment me that are just amusing.”

When his gaze met mine, his smile softened slightly.

“Don’t overthink it. She just admires her senior.”

I believed him.

But then came the late-night calls, the unfamiliar scent of perfume on his clothes, all signs that their relationship was slowly crossing the line.

I wanted to believe in the love we’d shared for years.

I wanted to believe Alexander could handle it all.

Until that night, at their celebratory party.

I waited for him, growing anxious as he didn’t return.

On my way to find him, I saw that familiar silhouette pulling a tipsy Selina into a hotel.

They told themselves it was their last indulgence before returning to rationality.

I felt like I’d fallen into an ice-cold pit.

And when I saw Selina lying naked in his arms, I lost all sense of reason. I slapped her.

The red handprint ruined her debut performance.

To save her image with the organizers, Alexander didn’t hesitate, he handed over the songs I had spent six months writing for her to perform.

With that song, Selina skyrocketed to fame.

I raged, reporting every post where they were accused of stealing.

But under crisis PR management, all my efforts disappeared into silence.

Alexander warned me, “Consider our past, stop making a scene.”

A scene? I almost laughed through my tears.

Anger and helplessness drove me onto Selina’s stage.

I shouted myself hoarse, denouncing her intrusion and his betrayal.

Alexander shielded her, his eyes toward me cold and disdainful.

Then, in front of tens of thousands of spectators, he officially announced that Selina was his girlfriend.

Meanwhile, I was pinned to the stage by bodyguards, watching helplessly as he protected Selina and led her away.

The stabbing pain in my chest was excruciating, as if it could tear me apart.

I sobbed, cursing loudly, only to have overzealous fans stuff my mouth with glow sticks.

When a broken glass bottle sliced across my cheek, tears mixed with blood ran down my face.

I closed my eyes in pain.

Finally, I realized the man who had once vowed to protect me forever was gone, unrecognizable.

Alexander staggered out after learning everything.

I didn’t ask where he was going.

I simply went to Liam, whose voice was hoarse from crying, and handed him a note.

He looked up, then violently swatted it away.

“It’s all your fault! If it weren’t for you, he wouldn’t yell at me!”

“Why do you have to cling to us?”

He shoved me hard.

“As long as you’re not here, Daddy, Selina, and I… we’re a happy family.”

My elbow hit the coffee table, sending a sharp pain.

I remembered, hazily, that I had once held hope when he first entered my life.

So when Alexander stood at the hospital bed years ago, smirking as he waved a prenatal check threateningly, telling me to behave for the sake of our child, I had compromised.

But now, seeing his tear-red eyes, I couldn’t help myself.

“Is it because I wasn’t good enough that you wanted her to be your mommy?”

He froze at the sight of tears glistening in my eyes.

“Mommy’s okay…”

He looked away.

“But Selina doesn’t make me stop eating candy. She’s better than you.”

I paused.

That short sentence took me a long moment to fully grasp.

I clutched my chest as if it had been pierced, aching emptily.

The questions that had haunted me through nights finally had an answer.

Yet… how absurd. How ridiculous.
