After Rebirth, My Rejecting Alpha’s Regret Chapter 04

After Rebirth, My Rejecting Alpha’s Regret Chapter 04

The recognition ceremony was held in the Moonlight Hall of the Moore estate. All the pack nobles were there.

I was the center of attention.

“Mom. Dad.”

I pressed my paw print into the Moore family book. Finally, I was officially a Moore.

After toasting my parents, I raised my glass to Faye. She was still the eldest daughter of the Moore family. My sister.

I said respectfully, “Dear sister.”

Faye surprised me. She didn’t pick a fight. Instead, she smiled warmly, called me her beloved sister, and said I was her favorite sibling.

She gave me a set of moonstone jewelry.

“Thank you, Faye.” I put on the necklace and earrings right there and smiled at her.

She smiled back. To anyone watching, we looked like real sisters.

When I turned away, I didn’t miss the flash of malice in her eyes.

I made an excuse and went back to my room. I took off the jewelry and inspected it. I found nothing wrong.

Just as I was wondering if I was imagining things, the door was kicked open.

That scent made my hair stand on end.

Ryan.

Before I could turn around, he was behind me. His burning body pressed against my back.

Memories of our eight years of entanglement washed over me like a tide. My body reacted before my mind did. I leaned back instinctively.

His palm pressed against my lower back, stopping me.

His left hand came over my shoulder and grabbed my neck. One squeeze would be enough to kill me.

At the same time, my right hand went to his throat out of reflex.

We had fought like this so many times in our past life.

He scoffed. “Stephanie, you really are something. You came back and made the Moores recognize you as their daughter. You should be ashamed of yourself, stealing someone else’s place.”

“Did Faye send you?” I asked quietly.

Ryan frowned. “Stephanie, she’s your sister.”

“She doesn’t deserve it.”

His fingers tightened. His Alpha presence crashed down on me. My knees went weak, but I didn’t bend.

“Stephanie,” he gritted out. “You stole from Faye, and she still asked me to come give you a gift. If you had even a fraction of her kindness, we wouldn’t have ended up the way we did last time.”

I didn’t care about his insults. “What did she ask you to give me?”

He let me go and pulled out a velvet box.

The moment he opened it, a sweet scent filled the room.

“She traded three years of her cultivation to a witch for this incense orb. It’s one of a kind in the entire pack. If you had any conscience at all—”

He stopped.

His pupils turned bright red. His fangs grew out before he could stop them. Veins bulged in his neck. He looked at me, gasping, like something was burning him from the inside.

“That incense orb is bad!” my wolf screamed in my mind. “It’s the same as the heat inducer the witch gave you last time.”

Ryan grabbed my wrist.

He squeezed so hard I thought he would break my bones.

I struggled, but my arms went limp. I couldn’t even lift them.

His fangs scraped against my neck. His hot breath hit my skin and made me shiver. His breath brushed along my neck as he moved closer.

The party was still going. Faye followed Mason around, smiling and greeting guests.

Ava ran up to her and whispered in her ear.

Faye’s face changed. She excused herself and hurried after Ava toward the back of the estate.

Everything was going according to plan.

Until Ava ran back into the party and screamed, “Mr. and Mrs. Moore, something terrible has happened! Ms. Stephanie Moore and the Alpha are in the room together…”

Everyone’s face fell. A strange scent filled the air. The more sensitive pack members already smelled desire.

A group of nobles followed Mason toward my room.

Mason kicked the door open.

But when everyone saw the two people in bed, the crowd gasped.

It wasn’t me.

It was Faye.
