Verena was here for Empire’s Rise too. 

Ever since she gained some recognition, she was no longer satisfied with voice acting. She wanted the lead role. 

Jason had already secured her a few streaming projects, but 

she had turned them all down. 

Now, she had brought him here–confident, determined to 

have him help her land this role. 

Adrian glanced at me, then at Jason. 

“You’re here to audition as well?” 

Before Jason could answer, Verena stepped forward with a 

bright smile. 

“Mr. Blake, I heard the lead role hasn’t been finalized yet. 

Could I give it a try?” 

Adrian frowned slightly, like he had just heard something 

mildly amusing. 

“Do you have any experience in prestige drama?” 

Verena shook her head. 

The corner of Adrian’s mouth lifted. 

“A voice actress with no acting credits… and you want to lead a major production?” 

“Is this your first time realizing you can’t just take on whatever you feel like?” 

“If I don’t try, how would I know?” Verena shot back, then pointed at me with clear disdain. 

“If I can’t do it, do you think she can?” 

“She’s not even one–tenth as good as I am. And yet she 

somehow made it through your doors. Honestly, I’m starting 

to question your judgment, Mr. Blake.” 

After saying that, she nudged Jason, signaling him to back 

her up. 

Jason clearly understood Adrian’s position and didn’t dare 

offend him directly. 

So he chose a more tactful approach. 

“Verena is a professionally trained voice actress. Purely in 

terms of vocal performance, she’s definitely stronger than 

Ms. Grant.” 

“And I’m sure you’ve seen the recent trending news.” 

“If you insist on using someone with that much negative. 

publicity… it might not be in the company’s best interest.” 

Silence fell over the room. 

Adrian poured himself another cup of coffee and settled into 

the sofa, one leg crossed over the other. 

Just as Jason and Verena were brimming with confidence, 

certain they had this opportunity in the bag, Adrian spoke, 

almost lazily, without even looking directly at them. 

“I don’t think Ms. Grant’s voice work is lacking.” 

“If anything, I’m more concerned about your character. It’s… 

quite different from the image I’ve heard about.” 

His gaze shifted slightly. 

“Verena Dawson, right? I heard one of our smaller streaming 

projects already cast you as the female lead.” 

“As of now, that role has been reassigned.” 

Verena’s face went pale. She looked like she might explode 

on the spot. 

In the end, under the assistant’s firm escort, Jason had no choice but to pull her out of the office. 

Three days later, the official announcement came: The lead voice for Empire’s Rise had been cast–Serena Vale. 

When Verena heard the news, she clapped mockingly, a 

smug smile on her lips. 

“I thought that bitch had some kind of skill,” she sneered. 

“Turns out, she didn’t get it either.” 

But she didn’t notice–Jason had gone completely still. 

Months later, Empire’s Rise wrapped filming. 

For the first time, I appeared in public as Serena Vale at the 

company’s annual gala. 

On stage, I performed live dubbing from my past works.

animated series. 

The moment my voice fell, the audience erupted.

By accident, my eyes met Jason’s in the crowd.
