Everyone stared at me, smirking. 

Eventually, they all went back to their rooms. I stayed behind, numb, wrapping the toy in a tissue and throwing it in the 

trash. 

Of course. Not one person in that room had ever truly been on 

my side. 

Back in my room, Lila was lounging on my bed, scrolling 

through her phone. 

She looked up and gave me a sweet smile. “All cleaned up? I should thank you, Mia. That thing was mine. Julian… likes to 

use it with me. I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I left it there.” 

“I didn’t think anyone would find it,” she added with a shrug. 

“But oh well. Julian had to protect my image in front of his 

parents. You understand.” 

“And,” she said, smiling at her pink nail tips, “I was the one 

who texted you to come home early. I sent one to the Alpha and Luna, too. Surprised?” 

I closed my eyes and silently hit the record button on my 

phone. 

I had to keep some evidence. I had already made that decision 

while I was handling that toy. 

The loved ones never have to explain themselves. The 

unwanted ones swallow every bitter pill alone. 

I lay down, exhausted. Lila immediately jumped up and backed 

away like I had the plague. 

“I’m not sharing a bed with you,” she snapped. “Get out.” 

“This is my room,” I said coldly. “You should be the one to 

leave.” 

To my surprise, she actually did. No argument. Just left. 

I was confused. That wasn’t like her at all. 

Sure enough, a moment later, she came back with Julian. 

His brow was furrowed. 

“Enough, Mia. You owe Lila this. Because of you, she’s had to suffer. She knows I gave my first time to you. It’s affected our bond. As compensation, you have to give her your room.” 

He tossed five crumpled bills onto my bed. “Enough for a 

hotel. Don’t come back until noon tomorrow.” 

I lowered my head and slowly picked up the money. “Okay.” 

I swore to myself. I would never come back. 

After they went to their room, laughing softly, I dragged my suitcase down the hall. Passing his parents‘ room, I heard 

Luna Sterling’s sharp voice. 

“That little bitch is always seducing my son. When are we finally getting rid of her?” 

“You should have just paid her off after her father died,” she hissed. “Now she’s like a parasite clinging to this house.” 

Alpha Sterling said quietly, “Come on. She’s a poor kid.” 

“She’s a-” 

I knocked on the door. 

The voices stopped. I stood there, calm. “Alpha, Luna. Don’t 

worry. I’m leaving tonight.” 

“My father saved your life because he chose to. He made at mistake. If he knew how his daughter would be treated, he would have let you die.” 

“Luna, bless your heart. Julian and Lila are perfect for each 

other.” 

Then I played the recording. Lila’s voice echoed down the 

hallway. 

“…the toy was mine…” 

“…the texts were from me…” 

Both of them froze. 

I didn’t look back.
