LAIKYN GARCIA. 

They’ve been trying to erase what I saw the other day with the 

excuse of training’me. 

They think I don’t remember the dead bodies, the blood, the smell of death and it was all my fault. 

Riot and Nikolai have been around me 24/7. They sleep in the same bed as me, they feed me, watch over me and up until a few days ago, they’ve been training me. 

I don’t want to sound like a bitch but I fucking hate training. It has done nothing but prove how weak I am and how being a wolf–less being will get me killed in the event of I get 

attacked again. 

“Bringing attitude into this doesn’t change a thing, kroshka. Your opponent won’t give a fuck about your tantrum.” 

Nikolai sizes me up, taking another step closer to me that has me feeling minuscule. 

It’s bad enough I suck at this while he looks like a god, all ripped, all muscles, all uncouth attitude but what’s even worse is the fact that everybody is here and watching me fail. 

I wish Echo was here. Did he authorize this? Or Vuk? I hadn’t seen them for a while or… Dom. 

“Eyes are up here, sweetheart“, Niko pulls me out of my trance before he adds, “Come at me. Put that frostiness to good use and come at me.” 

“I’m not frosty.“”

This time there’s no humor in his voice but I wonder can he hear my thoughts? I’ve unashamedly called him a bastard and a few things more since this started. 

There’s a truth in his voice though, I attack him or he attacks me, simple. 

My feet dig into the mat beneath us, I hoist my arms up just like Niko told me to do then I run to him and a few punches to him do nothing. 

It only takes a second for Niko to sweep me off my feet and knock me down. 

Another second for him to overpower me and I’m on the floor looking like a struggling fish out of water. 

“Open your eyes, Laikyn.” 

I open them and I’m met with a pair of stormy eyes. 

“The real enemy is going to do a lot more than knock you down. He’ll fuck you to the ground before he cuts your throat or does something worse. You fucking saw blood? Boo fucking hoo, baby. It’s not the first time you’ll do so. Man up, get that fear you 

have out of the way and-.” 

Niko’s words disappear just as soon as they came. Cold brush wind hits me before sunlight settles on my face nearly making 

me blind. 

It takes a second to realize Nikolai has just been yanked from 

on top of me and I’m lying on the floor. 

It takes another second to listen to the deadly silence, Niko’s laugh and something…no someone, growling like a beast 

unleashed. 

“Lake, come on“, Cassie’s the one who helps me up. 

I expect humiliation to stab me in the face when I stand up. What I don’t expect to see is the omegas and betas cowering by the corner as they watch the man who looks like more of a tall gigantic shadow dressed in all black plummet Niko into the ground. 

The first punch in and we all hear the sound of something 

having had cracked.

“Lake, let’s go“, Cassie nudges and the abrasive look I give 

her tells her to back off. 

What does she mean leave Nikolai while he’s getting hit to

Familiarity courses in my veins as I gaze at the dark hair, the broad shoulders, the veiny arms… 

“Dom?” My voice comes out as a whisper. 

Dom. That’s Dom.

I don’t know when I decide moving towards the beast is the right decision. All I know is, Nikolai is bleeding and he’s laughing about it and Dom looks completely unhinged, like he won’t stop and I don’t like it. 

My hand lands on Dom’s shoulder and it’s almost like I can feel his rage ooze out of his body. 

He’s always touched me but I’ve never touched him and today… 

“Dom! Dom, stop!” 

One touch. One plea. 

The beast of a man lets go of Niko and stands straight. Light glints off of him like it’s scared of him, Cassie visibly 

trembles next to me and I know she’s not the only one here. 

In slow–motion the man who has never showed me his face, shown 

me how he looks like when he’s angry, turns around and it’s 

like watching fire fight against the rain, beauty fight with 

gore, light against dark. 

Dom Kincaid doesn’t have the physique of a beast. He looks like 

one too. Handsome. Scary. Scarred. 

Goddess. 

I trace the scar near his right eye then to the other scar that 

runs from his forehead to the side of said eye. Both scars meet 

making an’X’on half of his face. He also has ink around his 

neck, silvery, pretty ink. 

I stare. He moves. 

I open my lips to speak to him, he’s standing in front of me. 

Everything disappears once he stands in front of me, his chest moving with the same rhythm mine is. 

Sheer panic is coursing through my veins so when he leans down, his palm cupping my face, I let him. 

When his mouth hovers over mine and his tongue darts out to lick me, I let him. 

The worst thing is I didn’t even know my lip was bleeding. I didn’t even know Dom was licking my blood. 

I didn’t even know I shouldn’t have let him. 

Why? 

Because one lick from him, charges my body like fire eating 

wild grass. 

For Dom, well… he doesn’t kiss me. The bastard ravages me the way a wolf would on meek sheep. Shock and warmth erupt in my chest and I gasp and he takes that opportunity to dominate my mouth, to take every breath out of me and render me

I can hear people moving. Leaving? Calling for help?

scared that whatever they say next will be like free falling 

down a cliff.

“Thirsty. For her blood. He doesn’t look… Echo, he’s in rough shape without his wolf helping him through whatever this is.” 

I didn’t do that to Dom. I didn’t…but the guilt and the thought 

of him in pain wrecks me. 

There’s also the other part. The one I relate to. Dom doesn’t 

have his wolf? 

“And Nikolai? How’s he doing?” 

“Same thing as Dom. Not as severe as that of Dom but he still wants the same thing. Her. Those silver chains won’t keep him and Dom locked for too long. Sooner or later they’ll…” 

“Fuck then we go with the plan. It was bound to happen once we took her from Xanthus. We mark her, keep the hound dogs that want her away. Fill her with pups and figure out the rest
