The Evil Ex Wife Was Just Acting Chapter 09

I hid in the bedroom and had Noah try on all the little clothes I 

had bought him. 

There was a little suit and several casual outfits. 

As expected of my son, he looked good in everything. 

After trying them on, Noah pulled out scissors with perfect 

understanding. 

“Mom, are we cutting the clothes up a little this time too?” 

“Mom, you bought pants for Dad too. Where should we make 

the hole?” 

“Dad bought you a gift today. Open it.” 

I remembered when the System had first arrived and I had 

once slipped up. 

At that time, Noah wore a piece of designer kidswear. 

The System said, “You’re a cruel ex–wife. Can your abused son 

wear something that nice?” 

I said Caleb wasn’t incapable of earning money. 

As a result, the contractor Caleb worked for disappeared, and 

after a whole month of hard work, he did not receive a single 

cent. 

When rent came due, we moved into the garage apartment. 

At the time, the System said, “This is punishment for breaking 

character.” 

“When you’re by Caleb’s side, Caleb is destined to be poor and ruined. Only after he meets Serena will he rise again and 

become wealthy.” 

Fortunately, the System was not online twenty–four hours a 

day after that. It said it was very busy. 

I stroked Noah’s head. 

“When our show wraps, Noah will never have to cut up clothes 

again.” 

After making Noah’s and Caleb’s new clothes look distressed, I opened the gift box. 

Inside was a necklace with a heart–shaped gemstone at the 

center, trembling faintly. 

Noah carefully put it around my neck. 

“Dad and I both think it looks pretty.” 

“Today I saw you eating with another uncle. Good thing I saw 

your signal, so I knew you were acting.” 

“You scared the baby.” 

I kissed him and coaxed him to sleep. 

Suddenly, the lights went out. 

A figure pulled me into his arms, and overwhelming kisses fell 

over me. 

Caleb’s voice carried a hint of alcohol. 

“Where did you touch him today? You even helped him try on 

a tie. Hmm?” 

“You like him? And you pretended not to see me.” 

In the dark, I seemed to see moisture in Caleb’s eyes. 

But his hand was domineering, sliding straight in until it touched the necklace on my neck. 

Then he froze. 

I struggled slightly, afraid the System would suddenly appear. 

Luckily, that night, Caleb kept going until dawn, and the 

System never showed up. 

I bit Caleb hard. 

“Weren’t you being cared for at Cedars–Sinai? Why did you 

come back?” 

“Did you run out to drink just now?” 

“I went to buy things. We didn’t have enough at home.” 

That bite happened just as Noah stood by our bed with his 

backpack. 

“Who’s taking me today?” 

I kicked Caleb off the bed and ignored the restrained smile at 

the corner of his mouth.
