The Major General Faked His Terminal Illness Chapter 06

As soon as the plane touched down, Gavin Gray didn’t even 

change out of his street clothes before driving straight to that old tenement building. 

During this brief two–week period, as he accompanied Luna on a trip down memory lane, what came to mind most often 

was- 

“I should bring Sienna here to see this place.” 

“She’s definitely going to love this ocean.” 

The punishment was over. 

It’s time to bring his little soldier home. 

When he pushed open that familiar, rusty iron gate, the room was filled with nothing but a cold, deathly silence. 

The desk was covered in a thin layer of dust, the cheap bedding 

was neatly stacked, and there was not a trace of life left in the 

air. 

He thought of that voice message that had gone unanswered, 

with no reply whatsoever. 

A wave of intense unease suddenly gripped his heart, sending 

a chill through his fingertips. 

He immediately called his aide, his voice trembling slightly, though he didn’t even notice it himself: “Track down Sienna right now! Immediately!” 

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the line, 

then the aide’s voice sounded unusually heavy: “General… 

you… should probably head back to the family housing of JBAB first.” 

Family housing area, JBAB. 

Gavin pushed open the slightly ajar front door. Standing in the living room were a doctor in a white coat and his aide. 

On the coffee table sat a dark, square wooden box. 

Dr. Johnson, the attending physician, turned around with a 

solemn expression, cradled the wooden box in both hands, 

and handed it to Gavin. 

Gavin didn’t answer. 

His face went pale, and he stared intently at the box as if it 

were the most absurd and terrifying thing in the world. 

“Dr. Johnson,” he tried to smile, but his muscles were so stiff it looked unnatural. “This girl… has she learned how to scare people? Fine, how much is she paying you to put on this act? I’ll pay ten times, twenty times that! Get her out here!” 

Dr. Johnson looked at the man standing before him; there was no fear in his eyes, only deep compassion and a hint of undisguised sarcasm. 

He shook his head and gently placed the urn on the coffee 

table. 

“General Gray, Sienna… was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor a year ago. At the time, the surgery had a 70% success rate. But she refused. She said she had to save her money and energy for her uncle’s ‘medical treatment“.” 

“Even a month ago, there was still a 20% chance. But she gave up anyway and spent her last savings on the ‘imported 

medicine‘ you needed.” 

Dr. Johnson’s voice was calm, yet his words cut like a knife: 

“She was worn down. Chronic severe malnutrition, overwork, 

old injuries that hadn’t healed, and a constant stream of new 

ones… She was only in her twenties, yet her body was worn out like that of a frail, elderly person.” 

His gaze swept across the tastefully decorated, spacious, and bright living room, finally settling on Gavin’s crisp military 

uniform. 

“To give a patient with ‘ALS‘ a glimmer of hope…” Dr. 

Johnson’s lips twisted into a smile that was as cold as ice. “She 

thought of you until her dying breath. But now it seems, Major 

General Gray, that you might… not be worthy of her 

affection.” 

“Bringing her ashes back here and handing them over to you 

was her final wish. My task is complete. Whether you believe it 

or not, and what you choose to do with them, is up to you.” 

After speaking, Dr. Johnson gave a crisp military salute and 

turned to leave. 

No sooner had he stepped out the door than he heard the loud 

crash of shattering glass behind him, followed by a scream of 

the most intense agony. 

Gavin sat there from the afternoon until late at night, curled 

up in a corner of the living room like a soulless statue. 

The documents delivered by the aide lay scattered across the floor; each page was cold, hard evidence exposing five years of carefully woven lies and everything that girl–whom he had deliberately ignored–had endured. 

The sound of a key turning in the lock broke the dead silence. 

Luna, carrying a pile of luxury shopping bags, hummed a tune as she pushed open the door and walked in. 

Before she could even turn on the light, she was violently 

thrown to the ground by a powerful force; her shopping bags 

spilled open, and her fine clothes and jewelry scattered across 

the floor. 

Her scream of terror died in her throat. 

In the shadows, a tall figure slowly rose to its feet. 

The lights suddenly came on. 

Gavin Gray stood before her, his military uniform crisp and 

immaculate, yet his expression was one of almost lifeless 

calm; only the icy chill swirling in his eyes was enough to 

freeze a person to the bone in an instant. 

When Luna’s gaze fell on the dark wooden box and the scattered papers on the coffee table, her pupils suddenly 

contracted, and her whole body began to shake violently. 

Gavin Gray lowered his gaze, his voice icy: 

“I ask, you answer. Got it?” 

Luna was pale as a sheet and nodded frantically. 

“The document leak. Was that you?” She nodded, trembling. 

“All those years of accusing Sienna–the ostracizing, the pressure, the lies–all of it? Your frame–up?” 

Cold sweat ran down Luna’s back. She tried to crawl over and 

grab Gavin Gray’s pant leg, but he kicked her away without 

mercy. 

“One last question,” Gavin’s voice was eerily low. “Did you delete her last message to me? And send those vile texts from 

my phone?” 

Luna’s emotional defenses completely collapsed, and she 

burst into tears: 

“Gavin! I’m just scared! Sienna and you have been together for ten years! What do I have?! I just want to be the most important person in your heart! I just want to hold on to this stable, wealthy life! What have I done wrong?! What’s wrong with fighting for the life I want?!” 

Gavin looked at her tear–streaked, contorted face and 

suddenly curled the corners of his mouth into a smile. 

Laughter welled up from the depths of his throat, starting out 

low and hoarse, then growing louder and louder until it turned 

into an almost frenzied cackle; he laughed until he doubled 

over, tears streaming uncontrollably down his face. 

He went to all that trouble just for this. 

It took five years. 

He destroyed the girl he loved most with his own hands.
