Cassian stood in the doorway with his bathrobe loosely draped around him, revealing a strong upper body. His square–cut 

chest muscles were tight and defined, leading down to his abs and V–line. His deep black eyes looked as if they were veiled in 

mist. 

The live comments stopped arguing and screamed in unison. 

“OMG, Aurelia is eating too good. Cassian’s face, this body. You don’t just run into this in real life. His robe is already this loose, so why is he still covering up? Open it a little more. 

Don’t be shy with the audience.” 

“Male lead, stop pretending. Your crush on Aurelia is written all over your face. The comments casually gave you one move, 

and you immediately followed it, running over to show off like a puppy finally allowed to fetch the ball.” 

“What happened to the ice–cold daddy? How did he turn into a sensitive, insecure, super clingy puppy boy? Sorry, I’m eating this up.” 

“I don’t know if he seduced Aurelia, but he kind of seduced 

1. me. Can I go in and act in two episodes?” 

“What?” 

Cassian stared at me and swallowed nervously. 

“Hair dryer’s broken. Can I borrow yours?” 

I did not expose his lie. 

“Wait. I’ll get it.” 

Cassian stood at the door. When he saw that my gaze did not linger on him for long and that there was no interest in my 

eyes, his own eyes dimmed with defeat. 

I handed him my Dyson, then shut the door without 

hesitation. 

Whether he truly liked me or not, he had given me so many cold faces over the years. 

He had a mouth but didn’t know how to ask. 

He didn’t know how to explain. 

And his heart still held his first love, Serena. 

I would not throw myself at him just because of the love he 

had never said out loud. 

And the live comments kept insulting me every day. I was sick 

of it. 

Cassian moved back in, and my parents were especially happy. 

I stabbed angrily at the tamales on my plate. 

I was too lazy to go in circles with him, so I laid it out directly. 

“What do you mean?” 

Cassian pressed his lips together and watched me nervously. 

“Aurelia, I like you. I want to pursue you.” 

I suddenly found it funny. 

“Cassian Holt, who do you think you are? You haven’t said one 

decent word to me in years. Now you say you want to pursue me, and I’m supposed to let you?” 

Cassian’s face instantly turned pale. His lips moved as he tried 

to explain, incoherent. 

“It wasn’t unkind. The coldness was fake. I was afraid if I wasn’t distant, you’d leave. And I didn’t know if you were just playing…” 

Why should I bear the consequences of what he assumed? 

His twisted thoughts were like thorns, stabbing me all over. 

“We’re done. Go find your Dr. Draycott. We’re incompatible.” 

Cassian’s brows twisted into a knot. 

“Dr. Draycott? What Dr. Draycott?” 

A few seconds later, he reacted. 

“Dr. Draycott and I have nothing. Barely spoken. The Abbey night, I didn’t sleep. The next day at Cedars–Sinai, I had low blood sugar. She gave me coffee. That’s it.” 

“I’ve always liked you. Never anyone else.” 

Seeing that I was unmoved, he looked so anxious he was 

almost crying. 

“If you don’t believe me, we’ll go to Cedars–Sinai tomorrow. 

Together.” 

He didn’t look like he was lying. 

“Forget it. Dr. Draycott doesn’t matter.” 

Cassian grabbed my wrist. His reddened eyes shimmered with 

water, and his voice trembled. 

“Why doesn’t it matter? You don’t want me anymore? You 

said I’d be your lieutenant forever. You said you’d protect me. How can you go back on your word?” 

As he spoke, a tear slid down the bridge of his tall nose. 

The live comments went insane. 

“Nope, I refuse to believe the male lead has no feelings for the female lead. They are clearly endgame couple. The chemistry is 

right there. This ship is welded shut. Even if the author brings a chainsaw, they can’t cut it apart. 

“Honestly, I get her. She chased him for years, finally gave up, and the second she moved on, he came crawling back saying he loved her? Yeah, no. I wouldn’t believe him either.” 

“I might be toxic for this, but Cassian crying? Delicious. This 

man runs Holt Media like an emotionless corporate weapon, 

and now he’s breaking down in front of her like his whole world just caved in. I’m sorry, I ate that up.” 

“So now that his wife doesn’t want him, he suddenly has 

words and tears? I’m trash for this drama. I ship him with the 

second female lead, proudly.” 

“Is nobody going to manage this broken plot? Is nobody going to manage my female lead Serena? What about my Serena?”
