I shot back. “The camera’s broken–so where’s your proof? How can you be so sure it was me?” 

Scoffs echoed through the room. 

“You two were the only ones here this morning. If it wasn’t 

you, you think it was Daphne? No one would risk their job over this.” 

Everyone nodded in agreement. 

Daphne wiped her tears and looked at me with red, watery 

eyes. 

“If you really wanted the project, I would’ve asked 

management to let us work together. Faye… why would you do this? I’ve worked so hard to get here. I really care about this job.” 

I almost laughed out loud. 

She only got the job because of Matteo. That was her “hard work“? 

Whispers grew louder and more vicious, all aimed at me. 

Someone even lifted a hand as if they were going to yank my hair. 

Then Matteo walked in. After hearing the short version, he frowned at me. 

“Faye, I know you’re jealous of Daphne, but this is low.” 

That was all it took to seal my fate. 

Worse, I had no proof–I couldn’t defend myself at all. 

I went quiet for a moment. 

Across love and work, Matteo always chose Daphne. 

I turned to Daphne. “So… what exactly do you want me to do?” 

Daphne blinked, still sniffling. “Nothing… just apologize.” 

Just apologize–like she was being so kind and forgiving. 

I smiled. 

“I’m not apologizing.” 

Matteo lost his patience. 

“It’s just an apology.” 

“Oh, come on. Daphne isn’t even asking you to pay for anything. Faye, are you really that stubborn? Should we just fire you according to policy?” 

I cut him off. 

“You think I want to stay at this company?” 

I slammed my ID badge on the table and spoke slowly and clearly. 

“Listen carefully. I’m not getting fired. I, Faye Whitaker, quit. And I want nothing to do with you or Daphne.” 

I looked around at my former coworkers. Everyone avoided 

my gaze. 

They’d worked with me long enough to know better, but they twisted everything to kiss up to Daphne. 

“I don’t want to be around any of you.” 

Matteo asked automatically. “Then where will you go?” 

“Another pack’s territory,” I answered calmly. 

Firms from Ravencrest Pack had already offered me a job. 

I only stayed in Frostveil Pack because of Matteo. 

At my answer, Matteo turned pale. His voice cracked, disbelieving. 

“You’re leaving?” 

“Is it for the job, or to get away from me? Faye, are you really 

that cold?” 

He snapped angrily for a few seconds, then calmed down, a 

cold smirk on his face. 

“I doubt any pack will take a she–wolf who deletes a coworker’s designs out of jealousy.” 

“Ravencrest Pack? If you so much as step out of line, and every wolf in every pack will know what you did today.” 

I fired back. 

“You have no proof. No camera footage showing I did 

anything.” 

Matteo laughed, icy and cruel. 

“The corner camera’s broken. Can you prove you didn’t do it? 

And everyone saw your attitude” 

Fury burned inside me—I was about to speak when a clear 

voice cut in from behind me. 

“Who said the camera was broken?” 

Rafael stepped in slowly, and everyone gasped. 

His gaze flicked quickly to me, then away. 

“How come I never knew the security system here was 

broken?” 

Rafael wasn’t part of Frostveil Pack–he was Alpha of a 

neighboring pack. 

But he’d been Matteo’s childhood friend and had also invested 

in the design firm. 

His other companies specialized in security equipment, meaning he supplied every camera in the office. 

Daphne stopped crying entirely. 

Rafael’s voice cut through the tension like a blade.
