Reborn Betrayed Twin: From Starlet to Billionaire Chapter 07

Reborn Betrayed Twin: From Starlet to Billionaire Chapter 07 The Airport Showdown

Four years.

That was how long I stayed overseas.

I packed my schedule until it bled. Screenwriting, directing, producing-the whole nine yards.

I didn’t just “learn” the craft; I let it break me until I got it right.

When I finally surfaced, I wasn’t empty-handed.

I had a script-the result of four years of obsessive polishing. It wasn’t just a story; it was my ticket.

I was ready to make my move.

Then I ran into Evelina at the airport.

Of course I did.

She was being mobbed by fans near arrivals, sunglasses on, chin up, acting like the whole terminal had been built for her entrance.

Compared to four years ago, she’d grown into her looks.

More polished. More glamorous. More practiced.

Honestly, she looked more like a real socialite than I did.

The fans had the place packed tight. Phones up. Voices shrill.

Then she spotted me.

And immediately dragged her suitcase over with a smug “I win” smile.

“See that, Seraphina? All these fans? They’d do whatever I say. And you? You’re nothing without the Sterling name. Just a rich girl playing dress-up.”

She craned her neck, making an exaggerated show of looking behind me.

“Oh-no one even came to pick you up at the airport, huh? Guess they finally figured out

you’re just a pretty face with nothing inside. Poor thing.”

Her fans started whispering behind her.

“Who’s she talking to?”

“Oh! That’s the Sterling heiress! I didn’t know Evelina knew her!”

“So what? It’s not like she’s a patch on Evelina. Not in looks, and definitely not in talent.”

“Yeah! Evelina is the best. We love you, Evelina!”

?

The louder the crowd cheered, the sharper her smirk became.

“Watch and learn,” she said, eyes burning. “Once I win that Best Actress, I’ll make sure you’re buried so deep no one will even remember your name.”

I ignored her. Just grabbed my suitcase and walked out.

Killian was waiting by his Maybach, leaning against it like a GQ photoshoot. The second he saw me, his jaw tightened.

“Did that nobody just threaten you? I’m making one call, and she’ll never work in this country again.”

I tugged his sleeve. Shook my head. Pulled out the puppy eyes.

“Not today. Just take me home. What did Mom and Dad make for dinner?”

His expression softened.

“Fine.” He opened the car door. “Everything you love. Now get in. Let’s go home.”

When I got back, I learned Arthur had basically stopped caring about the company years ago.

He handed almost everything to Killian.

And then happily ran off with my mother to travel, eat, shop, and live like retirees with a private jet.

I almost laughed.

Who knew the old man actually trusted his adopted son that much?

I rested for half a month before bringing up my plan to invest in a film.

The entire family backed me immediately.

Arthur waved a hand like this was nothing.

“Do it, sweetheart. If anything goes wrong, we’re here.”

Perfect.

So I cheerfully dragged him into becoming the very first face of my new company.

“Best dad ever,” I said sweetly. “With you leading the charge, my company is obviously going to thrive.”

Arthur instantly regretted opening his mouth.

Unfortunately for him, my mother was right there.

She shoved him into the chair and gave him an earful.

“She finally needs you. You’re not going anywhere, mister.”

So in the end, Arthur and Killian both helped take my script out to recruit a director and cast.

And just like that, Director Roman Kensington took the bait.

He was the same director who’d made Monique and Evelina famous.

He loved my script. Said he could even bring actors with him.

I had Killian agree.

The fish bit faster than I expected.

That meant my turn was starting too.

A month later, Monique and Evelina really did lock down the roles of mother and daughter in the film.

They were thrilled.

So thrilled they immediately insisted on hosting a dinner for everyone to celebrate.

Arthur didn’t want to go.

One look at me with my eyes turning red, though, and my mother practically hauled him there by force.

As for Killian, I looped my arm through his and took him with me.

Monique showed up dressed to the nines.

I hate to admit it, but she was still striking-much more outwardly glamorous than my own

mother.

Evelina made a show of sliding into the seat next to mine, leaning in with a low, smug laugh.

“Surprised, Sera? Here we are, eating at the same table again. Guess my acting skills won over your freak brother. He signed off on me as the female lead.”

She clicked her tongue. “Keep this up, and the gap between us is just gonna keep getting wider. Sooner or later, you’re gonna end right back under my heel.”

I took a slow sip of my wine and smiled. “Under your heel? What, you gonna trip me with all that plastic surgery?”

She went red.

“You don’t get to laugh at me,” she snapped. “You think you didn’t use every trick in the book to climb up last time? We’re the same. Don’t act like you’re better.”

“No,” I said quietly. “We’re really not. I hated every second of it. You? You looked like you were having the time of your life. Dignity, Evelina. Integrity. They come from inside. You don’t have any. So the only shameless one here–is you.”

I got up and walked to the restroom.

When I came out, the hallway was empty.

And then-

The whole world tilted sideways.

Evelina caught my arm, her voice soft in my ear.

“See? That big speech didn’t do much, did it? I’m really curious-after tonight, how much ‘dignity’ are you gonna have left?”

I tried to scream.

No sound came out.

Panic flashed sharp and bright through the fog.

My body was limp as she guided me upstairs to a guest room.

She got me inside.

Then let go just long enough to turn back with a vicious little smile.

A few men slipped in behind her.

Leading the pack was Roman. The same one from my last life. The one who thought he had a right to touch me.

He reached out, his fingers twitching with a desperate urge to touch my face, but he froze inches away.

“Evelina, you sure we won’t get in trouble for this?”
