Don, I Left as You Wished Chapter 04

Don, I Left as You Wished Chapter 04

I searched the entire bedroom. I found nothing.

I checked the security footage. Carlo took it.

But he refused to answer my calls.

I tracked him down to an exclusive club. He was having dinner with Damiano and Diana Ricci.

Someone at the table started joking.

“Damiano, where’s your little good girl? Why don’t you lend her to me for a few days?”

Damiano scoffed. He didn’t answer.

Carlo had a cigarette between his lips, looking utterly annoyed.

“Don’t ruin Diana’s welcome home party by mentioning that jinx,” Carlo said.

My knuckles turned white.

I pushed the VIP room door open. The air froze instantly.

I stared directly into Carlo’s cold eyes. I didn’t look away.

“Give me back my bracelet.”

Before he could speak, Diana Ricci raised her wrist.

“Do you mean this?” she asked. “Don Carlo gave this to me. I can’t give it to an outsider.”

I recognized it instantly. It was the antique bracelet my grandmother left me.

“That belongs to me,” I said. “It means everything to me. Give it back.”

Carlo crushed his cigarette in the ashtray. His face darkened.

“So what if it’s yours?” Carlo sneered. “You live under my roof. Everything you own belongs to me, and I take what I want.”

My face went pale. My hands shook violently.

“You can take anything else,” I choked out. “But not this. My grandmother—”

Damiano cut me off.

“It’s just a cheap bracelet,” Damiano said carelessly. “I’ll buy you a better one for your birthday. Diana likes it, so just let her have it.”

His casual words hit me like a physical blow.

Diana Ricci tilted her chin up triumphantly.

“Yes, Celeste, I really love it,” Diana said. “Name your price. Consider it a favor to me.”

I stood my ground.

“It’s not for sale. I just want my bracelet back.”

Carlo’s dark voice sliced through the room.

“Don’t test my patience,” Carlo barked. “Get out of here before I throw you out.”

Diana quickly grabbed his arm to soothe him.

“Don’t be angry, Don Carlo,” she murmured. “Let me talk to her.”

She swayed over to me in her high heels. She leaned close to whisper in my ear.

“Did you really think you could replace me while I was gone?” she hissed. “You’re nothing but a dog they’re tired of playing with.”

“You want the bracelet? Fine. Kneel down and beg me.”

I froze. I couldn’t breathe.

It was the only piece of my grandmother I had left. Her warm smile flashed in my mind, and I made my choice.

In front of everyone, my knees hit the floor.

“Please,” I whispered. “Give it back.”

Carlo and Damiano sat on the couch. They watched coldly and did nothing to stop it.

“Look at you,” Diana mocked, her voice full of spite. “Just like your homewrecker mother. Did you think a cheap sob story would work on me?”

A cruel, twisted smile spread across her face.

“But since you’re begging so nicely, I’d hate to look petty.”

She tilted her head and slid the bracelet off her wrist.

“Here.”

She opened her fingers before I could reach it.

The bracelet shattered into pieces on the floor.

Looking at the ruined pieces, my eyes went red. I lunged forward and slapped her across the face.

The next second, a brutal force slammed into me. I crashed hard against the edge of the table.

Damiano pulled Diana into his arms. He gently touched her swelling cheek.

Carlo’s face grew dark with fury.

“Celeste Costa, how dare you touch Diana in front of me?” Carlo roared. “Apologize to her right now!”

His words pierced my chest like an icy blade.

“It’s just a piece of trash from a dead woman,” he snapped. “How much longer are you going to throw this tantrum?”

Rage consumed me. I lunged at Carlo and slapped him across the face with everything I had.

“Don’t you dare call it trash!” I screamed. “It was an heirloom from my family. You had no right to give it away!”

“And she broke it on purpose. I will never apologize to her.”

Carlo’s eyes flared with rage as he ground his boot into the shattered pieces.

“I actually felt sorry for you over the years,” he hissed. “But you’ve gotten too bold. You care so much about this bracelet?”

“Hold her down,” Carlo ordered his men. “Make her beg Diana for forgiveness on these shards. She doesn’t get up until Diana says so.”

Several guards rushed in. They grabbed my hair and forced my face down onto the broken pieces.

Sharp pain sliced into my forehead, but it was nothing compared to the emptiness in my chest.

Warm, thick blood blurred my vision, dripping onto the floor.

The pain was blinding. I was fading fast.

Carlo looked at the drying blood on my face, a sudden flicker of hesitation in his eyes.

“Are you ready to apologize?” he asked.

I stayed silent.

A vein throbbed on his forehead. He gritted his teeth.

“Keep her down,” he snarled. “Until she opens her mouth.”

Damiano finally stepped in, grabbing Carlo’s arm.

“That’s enough, Don Carlo,” Damiano said. “You’re going to kill her.”

Carlo scoffed. “Feeling soft? Don’t forget who got her into bed in the first place—”

Before he could finish, Diana suddenly collapsed.

Damiano scooped Diana into his arms. Without a single glance at me, he stormed out and slammed the door.

His face was twisted with a panic I had never seen before.

Carlo waved his hand dismissively and turned to look at me.

“See that?” Carlo sneered. “Damiano never cared about you. You’re nothing compared to us.”

“Diana is my family. If anything happens to her, I’ll destroy you.”

The room emptied. I dragged myself up to find a clinic.

The moment I reached the clinic, my advisor called.

“Celeste, the program timeline has changed,” he said.

I froze. “When?”

“Right now.”
