Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 19

Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 19

One year later, I had my own small studio.

I had also made a group of like–minded friends.

I was busier and more tired than before.

But it felt substantial.

Finally moving in my own direction, that feeling was deeply

reassuring.

The day the studio was established, I thought of Kaelen first.

I went to knock on his door. No answer. I called, still no

answer.

I was about to try again when a news alert popped up on my

phone.

[Black Pagani Speeding, Rear–Ended–Driver Dead at Scene.]

My heart lurched.

I had seen that car before.

It was the one he mentioned on his twenty–fifth birthday.

I didn’t think; I just hailed a taxi and headed to the scene.

Every red light on the way felt so long that I spent the whole time praying he had just missed my call.

The scene was already cordoned off by the Lycan Police.

I tried to push through, but an officer stopped me.

“What is your relationship to the injured?” the officer asked.

I opened my mouth. “…His partner.”

The words surprised even me.

The officer showed me the car owner’s information for

confirmation.

The photo showed a sixty–year–old male suspect; a heart

attack had caused the crash.

All the tension left my body at once. My legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the ground.

A few minutes later, Kaelen called back. He said he was setting

up a surprise.

Before I could get mad, he had already arrived at the scene.

From a distance, I saw him walking through the crowd toward

  1. me.

Before I could react, he had pulled me into his arms. “Don’t be

scared. I’m here.”

I grabbed onto him instinctively.

“Where were you?” My voice was trembling. “I couldn’t find

you.”

“Setting up a surprise for you,” he said softly. “I was going to confess today.”

I looked up at him. “At my office?”

He paused. “How did you know?”

I took a breath.

“Because I have security cameras.”

He gently tapped his forehead. “…Oops.”

I wanted to be angry, but I just felt like crying.

He hadn’t disappeared. He had just gone to prepare a surprise whose outcome I already knew.

“So, are you going to ask me now?” I said.

He pulled a ring from his pocket.

“It was just going to be a confession.”

“But I figured, eventually it would turn into this anyway.”

I stared. “What’s that?”

“The pre–proposal version.” He was very serious.

I laughed, but my eyes were still wet.

“I’ll think about it.”

He nodded. “Okay. Take your time.”

This time, I didn’t rush to answer.

For the first time, I felt like maybe I didn’t have to face the

future alone anymore.
