By the time we got back from the supermarket, the rain had 

stopped. 

Kaelen and I were walking back to the apartment, each 

carrying a large bag of groceries. 

The mood was light, until I looked up and saw a familiar figure 

downstairs. 

My steps faltered, and the smile faded from my face. 

Zephyr. 

He had actually found me here. 

Before I could react, Kaelen noticed the change. He stepped directly in front of me, blocking me from view. 

When Zephyr saw me, his eyes lit up. 

But the next second, he saw Kaelen. His expression darkened. 

He took a few steps closer, the air around him growing heavy 

with menace. 

Kaelen didn’t back down. Instead, he stood his ground. 

“Who are you?” Kaelen asked. 

“I should be asking you that.” Zephyr’s voice was cold. 

The tension between them grew. 

Kaelen ignored him and looked back at me. “Nova, do you know this man?” 

I nodded. 

“Do you want me to walk you upstairs?” Kaelen asked. 

“No, it’s fine.” I shook my head. “Let’s go.” 

Just as I started to leave, Zephyr called after me. “Nova, can we please talk?” 

I paused for a moment, but didn’t turn around. 

Kaelen seemed to understand. “If you don’t settle things with him, he won’t go. I’ll wait for you up ahead.” 

He took the bags from my hands and walked a short distance 

away. 

Throughout, he and Zephyr never looked at each other, like 

two parallel lines that never meet. 

I turned to face Zephyr. “There’s nothing to talk about.” 

My voice was calm. “You chose Selene. There’s no need to look 

back now.” 

Zephyr froze, as if hearing my tone of voice for the first time. 

He opened his mouth, his voice slightly hoarse. “Nova… I 

know I messed up.” 

“I found out everything Selene did. I took care of it.” 

“Will you come back?” 

“I just… want to see you.” 

His voice was shaking. But I didn’t waver. 

I just looked at him for a long time. 

Then I slowly spoke. “Zephyr.” 

“I’ve loved you for a very long time.” 

“In those days with you, I thought you were my only future.” 

“I even thought that happiness was too good to be true.” 

His eyes grew tense. 

I continued. “I kept waiting for you to recognize me. Even just 

a little. Or to give me a chance to explain.” 

“But you didn’t.” 

It was too quiet. 

I took a soft breath. 

“So now I understand: some people, once lost, don’t get a 

second chance.” 

Zephyr’s voice was urgent. “Nova, I—” 

He stopped. Because he realized he didn’t know what to say. 

I looked at him, saying the last thing I needed to say. “I did 

love you. But I don’t anymore. We’re over.” 

I turned. I didn’t stop. “Don’t look for me again, Zephyr.” 

Zephyr watched me walk back to Kaelen. Regret washed over 

him. 

Before coming to Valoria, he had imagined countless 

scenarios. He would do anything if I would just come back. 

But now, standing there, I was telling him I didn’t love him 

anymore. 

Zephyr’s heart felt as if it had plunged into an ice cave, bitterly cold. 

After that, I never saw Zephyr again. 

I only heard that he left the Mooncrest Pack. No one knew 

where he went. 

Orion and Isadora also tried to contact me a few times. 

I never saw them again. I simply returned the legal documents they had sent me renouncing their parental rights. 

I’d be lying if I said it didn’t affect me at all. 

But that was it. 

For me, those relationships had ended long ago. 

They weren’t part of who I was now.
