Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 04

Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 04

After being discharged, I went home and got rid of everything related to Zephyr.

The diaries and love letters I wrote as a teenager, the secret photos I’d collected of him, the gifts I’d wanted to give him…

Originally, I had planned to share all of it with him bit by bit once we were together.

But now I knew. He and I would never have a chance. None of it mattered anymore.

I threw it all into a trash bag. When I turned around, I came face to face with Zephyr, who had just brought Selene home.

He glanced at the trash bag. When his eyes landed on me, they were still cold and distant.

Selene saw the items too. She deliberately took his arm, smiling as she spoke. “Zephyr, looks like Nova has finally learned her lesson. She won’t be bothering you anymore, right?”

“She’s still my sister, though. Don’t always be so cold to her.”

Zephyr looked at me, his voice indifferent. “I’m always like this with people I don’t like. No need to pretend.”

I listened quietly, saying nothing.

I took a breath, pushed down my emotions, and turned to go back to my room.

The next day was Selene’s birthday banquet.

The hall was buzzing with chatter. Guests gathered in clusters, whispering.

“The lengths Zephyr went to for the future Luna’s birthday are insane. I heard the flowers were airlifted from Frostmere, the fireworks are going off for three days and three nights, and the jewels Selene was wearing were from Sotheby’s.”

“Selene is so lucky to marry Zephyr. Too bad she has a nuisance like Nova to deal with.”

“The gap between the two sisters is huge. Nova can’t even compare to Selene, and she keeps clinging to Zephyr. It’s just embarrassing.”

I sat in a corner, as if I didn’t exist.

Their words reached my ears, but I barely reacted.

Nearby, Orion, Isadora, and Zephyr were all gathered around Selene.

They adjusted her dress, took drinks for her, lit her candles, and sang happy birthday to her.

Watching this, I suddenly remembered my own birthdays. Selene would always find a way to call our parents away, leaving me to blow out the candles alone.

Later, during the years I was with Zephyr, I thought I wouldn’t be lonely anymore.

He would make wishes with me, give me gifts, sit beside me while I cut the cake.

But even that brief warmth was gone now.

And I didn’t need it anymore either.

The lights were bright. Selene closed her eyes to make a wish, and everyone began presenting gifts.

She unwrapped each one, from designer bags to jewelry, her smile never fading.

The last two gifts were from Orion, Isadora, and Zephyr. They caused an instant sensation.

“After discussion with your Luna mother, I have decided that Selene will become the heir of the Ravencrest Pack, inheriting all its assets.”

“My gift is fifty percent ownership of the Mooncrest Pack’s property, and our family’s heirloom wedding rings. The mates who wear these rings will be bound together forever. Selene, you are my one and only mate.”

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Zephyr put the ring on Selene’s finger himself and leaned down to kiss her.

The hall erupted. Applause and cheers thundered.

I stood far away, watching the scene, my chest tight.

Just as I was about to leave, Selene suddenly called out to me. “Nova, what’s your gift?”

Everyone’s eyes instantly fell on me.

I stopped, took a box I had prepared earlier from my bag, and handed it to her.

Selene smiled as she opened it, ready to make a sarcastic remark.

But the next second, Zephyr’s gaze locked onto my wrist, his eyes widening in disbelief.

“Why do you have that bracelet?”
