I arrived at the hotel right on time.

The door to Room 1808 was ajar. Inside, Zephyr was holding Selene, both of them naked.

Used condoms were scattered around, the air thick with the heat of their passion.

Seeing me standing outside, my sister Selene let out an involuntary scream.

Zephyr lowered his head, pressing soft, lingering kisses on her collarbone, his voice a low murmur. “Don’t be scared. I asked her to come on purpose.”

“I want her to know that you’re the one I like, so she won’t harbor any inappropriate feelings for me. She needs to realize she’s just the future Luna’s sister.”

Watching this scene for the second time, a sharp pain shot through my wolf side. The fragile bond between us flickered and burned as if scorched.

But I needed to get used to it, because from now on, Zephyr would only ever be my brother-in-law.

My wolf and I had already expelled Zephyr from my soul.

I don’t know how long passed. I finally released my hand, which was marked with deep fingernail prints. Then I saw Zephyr, now wearing a bathrobe, walk up to me.

“See clearly now? Selene is the only one I love. Remember your place. I am your future brother-in-law. Stop doing those shameless things from now on!”

“Even if you were my mate, I’d reject you without hesitation.”

My face was completely expressionless. “I saw clearly. And I understand.”

Zephyr paused for a moment, as if surprised by my calmness.

After a beat, he picked up an invitation from the bedside table and handed it to me. “The Mating Ceremony for Selene and me is next month. I hope you can come.”

I took the invitation. “I’ll be there on time. Congratulations on your wedding.”

Zephyr stared at my face, his brow furrowed slightly.

For some reason, I was being unusually obedient today.

But he didn’t ask anything. He just took Selene’s hand and left the hotel. I followed behind, dragging my heavy feet.

I lowered my head, lost in a daze, when I heard screams erupt around me.

The next second, a massive decorative sign came crashing down from above.

Zephyr instinctively shielded Selene and jumped back, perfectly avoiding the danger.

I was the only one left standing there, crushed to the ground by the falling sign.

Waves of pain surged through me, tearing at my nerves.

Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision. Watching him protect Selene, I closed my eyes.

The Zephyr who once only had eyes for me was never coming back.

And finally, I could let go completely.

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in the healer’s den.

A nurse was changing my bandages. Seeing I was awake, she breathed a sigh of relief.

“You’ve been unconscious for two days. Good to see you awake. How do you feel?”

“Selene was so scared the day she brought you in that she fainted. Your parents and your brother-in-law are in the next room taking care of her. Should I go get them?”

Hearing this, I just shook my head. “No need. They don’t want to see me, and I don’t want to see them either.”

A flicker of sympathy crossed the nurse’s eyes as she turned and left the room.

“Honestly, they’re biological sisters. The younger one is in the ICU with severe blood loss, and her family doesn’t even ask about her.”

“They’re only focused on the older sister who got a fright. They haven’t visited once in two days.”

“I heard her brother-in-law is the Alpha of the Mooncrest Pack. Since the sister is becoming Luna, I guess it’s normal they neglect the younger one.”

“But her sister’s mate is truly devoted, staying by her sister’s side the whole time. He even brought in a retired psychologist to help her, and he’s been sending precious gifts into her room like they’re nothing…”

Their quiet remarks reached my ears clearly.
