After I Chose to Die, They All Regretted It Chapter 07

As soon as I finished speaking, the familiar pulling sensation swept through my body.

The world before my eyes turned cold and pure white.

I was sent directly outside the ICU wing of the Moretti family’s private medical center.

The hallway was filled with the smell of disinfectant and alcohol.

It made my stomach churn.

Behind the glass door lay a body that was both familiar and strange.

It was Ivy Grayson’s body.

Her face was as pale as paper.

Tubes covered her body and connected her to the life-support machines beside the bed.

The wavering lines on the monitor were the only proof she was still alive.

The man guarding the bedside was so thin he looked hollowed out.

Nolan Grayson.

He used to wear a spotless white coat and gently tell me little facts about medicine.

But now, his hair was messy and stuck to his forehead.

The white coat hung off him like it belonged to someone else.

He lay beside the bed, one hand gripping the wrist of the body on the bed, his empty eyes fixed on

the monitor.

I pushed the door open and walked in.

My footsteps sounded against the floor.

Nolan snapped his head up as if someone had flipped a switch.

He opened his mouth, but for a long time, no sound came out.

Only a hoarse breath escaped his throat, like air scraping through a broken pipe.

“I… Ivy?”

He spoke carefully, his voice almost unrecognizable.

“Is it you? Is it really you?”

I sighed.

“You’ve lost a lot of weight.”

Tears fell from his eyes at once.

He carefully picked up a pastry from the table and handed it to me.

“I know you used to love this. I bought every shop in New York that sold it. Try some…”

Nolan used to say that as long as I smiled, his heart would calm down.

But during those years, with those same hands, he pushed me toward Lydia again and again.

I took it from him and placed it aside.

“It’s too sweet.”

“I don’t like it anymore.”

Nolan’s hand froze.

His tears fell even harder.

I ignored his grief and said, “Call Victor, Leon, and Caleb over.”

“I have something to say.

They came quickly.

Footsteps rushed down the hall.

Leon leaned on a cane. One of his legs was clearly injured.

His face was even paler than Nolan’s, and his eyes were full of exhaustion and despair.

The man who had once shone in front of cameras could barely stand now.

Victor still wore a black shirt.

But the strip of wrist showing under his cuff was covered in old and new scars.

He spoke first, his voice shaking no matter how hard he tried to hide it.

“You’re back.”

Leon staggered up to me. His eyes were red.

“Ivy, I’m sorry.”

“Hit me. Hate me. Do whatever you want. Just don’t leave again, okay?”

They were so emotional that they tried to rush forward and grab my hand.

I frowned and stepped back.

“Don’t come closer.”

Urgent footsteps sounded from the hallway again.

It was Caleb.

I almost did not recognize him.

The Caleb of the past had been the most dazzling heir of the Moretti family.

In a black suit, he had always looked calm and arrogant, like he had been born to stand above

everyone.

But now, more than half his hair had gone white.

His eyes held an obsession close to madness.

He stared at me and walked closer step by step.

“Ivy.”

“My Ivy.”

He reached out to hug me.

I turned sideways and avoided him.

His hand froze in midair. His face was full of despair.

“We know we were wrong.”

“Give us one more chance, please.”

I looked at them. My voice was cold.

“I only came back because this world is about to collapse.”

“I don’t want more innocent people dragged into your obsession.”

Before she could finish, she stopped breathing.

Caleb did not look at her.

He only looked at me carefully, almost pleading.

“Ivy, I got revenge for you.”

I sneered.

“But weren’t you the ones who hurt me?”

Their faces went white in an instant.
