High Paying Bounty for My Secret Husband’s One Night Stand? I Queted Chapter 10

“Feel good?”

Alexander’s voice came from above me.

I turned and found myself staring into his deep eyes.

“Not bad. Just a shame about the seventy grand.”

He suddenly leaned down and kissed the tip of my nose.

“Two hundred thousand isn’t enough? I’ll give you half of Harrington Group. Is that enough?”

I froze. Since when did Alexander know how to sweet-talk?

“Alexander, did you take the wrong pills?”

He didn’t answer. He just tightened his arms around me.

“Olivia. For three years, I thought you didn’t need me.”

His voice was low and rough, carrying a hint of something like hurt.

“If someone hadn’t put a bounty on me tonight, would you have gone your whole life without

reaching out first?”

Something soft inside me gave a little. So that was it. The three years of cold silence weren’t

just about being busy.

It was because we were both waiting for the other to make the first move.

“Tell that chat. I’m married.” He repeated it, his tone firm.

I looked out at the ocean view and suddenly felt that this accidental “bounty mission” had netted me something far more valuable than money.

Even though I had left the chat, Jessica shamelessly added me as a private contact.

Her first message was: [You liar! That transfer record is photoshopped! There’s no way a man like Alexander would send two hundred grand to a woman like you!]

I sat on the hotel terrace, letting the sea breeze wash over me, and replied slowly.

[Ms. Whitmore, is it really that hard for you to admit someone is more successful than you?]

She replied with an angry emoji.

[Olivia, right? I looked you up. You’re just some small tech company CEO. Marrying into the Harrington family was a step up for you.]

[Alexander doesn’t love you. He just married you for the Blackwood resources.]

I stared at the screen, completely unbothered.

I had heard that kind of talk for three years. It didn’t touch me anymore.

[Love or no love, the two hundred thousand is already in my account. Ms. Whitmore, I

refunded your twenty grand, by the way. Make sure you got it.]

I had just sent it when Jessica shot back another long message.

[You just wait! My father will be at the Coastline Parcel bid tomorrow. I’ll expose you in front of everyone!]

[I’ll show them how the great “Mrs. Harrington” makes her dirty money selling her husband

online!]

I raised an eyebrow. This girl had a truly unique way of thinking.

[Be my guest.]

I turned off my phone. I didn’t want to deal with her anymore.

Just then, Alexander came out of the suite with a jacket, which he draped over my shoulders.

“What are you looking at?”

“Just watching a crazy person perform.”

I leaned back against his chest.

“Alexander. Whitmore Real Estate is bidding on the Coastline Parcel tomorrow, aren’t they?”

He nodded, his eyes cooling.

“The Whitmores have been making a lot of noise lately. They want a piece of Silver Sand

Cove. But they’re not going to get it.”

“Why not?”

“Because they messed with the wrong people.”

His long fingers threaded through my hair, his touch gentle, but his words ice cold.

“Someone put a bounty on my wife. It’s only right for the husband to collect a little interest.”

Warmth spread through my chest, but my mouth teased him. “Mr. Harrington, are you going

full ‘scorched earth for your woman’?”

He looked down at me, his gaze burning. “You’re my woman. And you’re my life.”

My face heated up. I was about to say something to break the tension when my phone

buzzed again.

It was the socialite chat. Even though I had left, a friend of mine who was still in there started frantically sending me screenshots.

The chat was in complete chaos.

Jessica was spreading wild rumors that I was a mistress Alexander kept on the side, just out

to scam people.

[Don’t believe her! There’s no way Alexander is married! That photo is obviously

photoshopped!]

[Seriously. That Olivia is a conniving snake.]

I was about to fire back when Alexander took my phone.

His long fingers tapped the screen a few times. Then he posted a video directly to the chat.

The video showed him kissing my forehead. The background was unmistakably the Crown

Suite.

[This is Alexander. Olivia has been my legal wife for three years. Ms. Whitmore, expect a cease-and-desist tomorrow.]
