After I Died, the Alpha Went Mad Holding My Body Chapter 06

Kaelen didn’t react to Isabella’s crying.

His face was bloodless as he held my body-already cooling-and he had to face it. I was

dead.

The Alpha who’d stood above everyone in Blackwood broke down in the snow like a child. In

front of his entire pack.

“Evelyn-don’t leave me.”

“It’s my fault. I’m begging you. Don’t leave me.”

His voice tore itself apart.

Big tears fell into the snow. Mixed with the blood.

When he was wrung out, he saw the bloody silver dagger on the ground-and his head

snapped up.

“Whose dagger is this?”

“Who forced my Evelyn to die?”

My father stumbled out of the North Wing, white-faced, and dropped to his knees.

“Alpha. I only wanted her to cut the family oath. I didn’t think she would-”

Kaelen lifted his eyes.

The killing intent in his face was so thick it was hard to breathe in the same air.

He kicked my father down into the snow.

“Evelyn was the Luna of the Blackwood Pack. Where did you find the nerve to cut her loose?”

“You drove her to this. You don’t think you should pay for it?”

He waved a hand.

“Take him. Fifty lashes. Pack punishment.”

“Alpha-mercy! Have mercy-”

My father was dragged off, kicking.

Isabella came out of the North Wing, leaning on my mother.

“Please, Alpha. Have mercy. Father is old. Fifty lashes will kill him.”

He didn’t even look at her.

His eyes swept across my mother’s face. His voice was empty as winter.

“This woman pushed Evelyn too.”

“Take her. Slap her until his punishment ends.”

After they dragged my mother off too, the screams started outside the packhouse, one after

another.

Kaelen lifted my body and carried me step by step back to his bedroom in the Moon Tower.

He moved like he was afraid of hurting me. Set me on the bed like I was glass.

Then he got a cloth. Started cleaning the blood off me, inch by inch.

“My Evelyn was the prettiest girl in the world.”

“If she wakes up and sees herself like this, she’ll blame me for not taking care of her.”

He pulled a smile across his face. Uglier than a sob.

He went on talking to me like that, for hours. Wouldn’t let anyone in.

Isabella sent messengers. They were all turned away.

Until the last one stood outside the door, shaking.

“Alpha. Bad news. Miss Isabella’s just delivered. The pup-wasn’t breathing.”

No answer from inside.

The messenger ran for his life back to her.

Kaelen’s dead eyes stirred.

A long time later, he seemed to remember something. He bent down. Kissed my forehead.

“Evelyn. Wait for me.”

“I’ll be back soon.”

On the other side of the estate, Isabella was screaming at her servants because she’d failed

to get Kaelen to come to her.

“Useless! Can’t get one thing right-get out! Out!”

Everything she could reach went on the floor.

When she was done, she remembered something. Called her personal maid over.

“What I asked you to do-is it done?”

The maid nodded, scared.

“Miss, don’t worry. The pack healer who treated you-we’ve taken care of him. He won’t ever

tell anyone the truth.”

Only then did Isabella settle.

She glanced over at the small body of her dead pup. There was no pain in her face. Just

disgust.

“Garbage. All that work, for nothing.”

“That bitch Evelyn. Even dead, she’s got the Alpha’s soul on a leash. I can’t get a moment’s

peace.”

“If I’d known she’d off herself this easy, I’d have finished her years ago.”

A smile started at the corner of her mouth.

“So what if she was a system host. Worthless either way.”

“If I hadn’t overheard her talking to her system back then, she might have actually beat me.”

“Too bad. Even in death, she’ll never know-I was never a system host. The whole mission,

the whole thing, was a lie. I made her swallow it. I made Kaelen swallow it.”

The smile didn’t get to finish forming.

The door blew open with a crash.
