My Cold Infertile CEO Regretted Everything After Ten Miscarriages Chapter 01

The third year I married Elias Voss—the man with the family infertility gene—I got pregnant with our tenth child.

Elias held out a bowl of abortion elixir, just like he always did. This time I didn’t hesitate. I didn’t beg. I took it and drank it all in one gulp.

His gaze flickered. He looked at me, almost soft, and spoke.”I know you don’t want to lose this baby. But the Voss heir has to come from Seraphina. I promised my brother that years ago.”

I knew he was lying. But I didn’t snap at him like before. I just smiled gently.”I forgot to take my pill on time. It won’t happen again.”

Elias looked moved. He thought for a moment, then made up his mind.”This is the last time. We’re going to have our own children soon.”

I stared at the blood slowly spreading between my legs and said nothing.

He had no idea. There would be no next time. The last Fertility Charm on earth was gone, burned away with the elixir I’d just drunk. The Voss infertility gene would never be cured.

The pain hit harder than ever.

It felt like something was being ripped out of me. I curled into a ball, cold sweat pouring down my forehead.

I gripped the sheets until my knuckles turned white, small broken sounds escaping my throat.

Elias stood by the bed. He glanced at the blood soaking the sheets and frowned.”Why is it worse this time?”

His tone was casual, like he was commenting on the weather.

I didn’t have the strength to answer.

He checked his phone and added carelessly,”Oh, I switched your medicine. Seraphina gave me this one. Supposedly safe for you, faster recovery.”

I closed my eyes so he wouldn’t see the tears building in my corners.

When I didn’t reply, he looked bored and turned to leave.”Wait…”

The words came out in a pained gasp.”Send someone to clean this up.”

His frown deepened.”You’ve done this how many times? Can’t you clean it yourself? Do you have to tell the whole world you miscarried again?”

I stared at the man in front of me—familiar, yet completely foreign. I couldn’t believe those words came from his mouth.

There’s nothing left to do but laugh when you’re this stunned. “You want me to clean up blood? Don’t I have to stop bleeding first?”

Elias snapped his head around, annoyed.”Don’t be so bitter.”

“How do you want me to talk?”

I looked straight into his eyes.”Beg you to keep the baby? Kneel for you? Like I used to?”

“I just…” He paused, searching for words.”You do this every time. I’m tired too. I’m sad the baby’s gone, but you can’t keep throwing this in my face.”

I froze.

Throwing it in his face?

Ten miscarriages. To him, it was just a scene.
