My scores came out about the same as I had estimated. 

On the day I applied to college, I got up early, but I still ran into Ricardo. 

I saw the car keys in his hand and was just about to refuse when he said in a low voice, “Mom told me to go with you.” 

The ride was silent. 

On the passenger side, the spring bunny ornament Ricardo once called ugly was still there, its head bobbing as the car 

moved. 

He would probably throw it away someday. 

I liked it, so I snapped it off. 

The breathing beside me suddenly grew heavier. 

“Don’t take your anger out on random things.” 

I put it into my bag and asked strangely, “I’m not taking 

anything out on it. I’m just taking my things with me.” 

Ricardo caught the wording sharply. 

“Taking them where?” 

I turned to look out the window. 

“You don’t like them anyway. What does it matter where I 

take them?” 

“Talia Moretti.” 

But his phone rang right after that. 

After the call, the car visibly sped up. 

A thirty–minute drive was cut down to a little over ten 

minutes. 

Before I got out, Ricardo looked grave. 

“There’s an emergency at the lab. I have to go. Text me when you’re done. I’ll pick you up.” 

I nodded obediently. 

Once the car disappeared at the corner, I turned and walked in the opposite direction. 

Ricardo, goodbye. 

Just as the comments said, today was the day Tecla and Ricardo would recognize each other as siblings and return to the Moretti family. 

And I, the fake heiress, should leave too. 

After submitting my application to C University, I went home and cleared out everything related to me. 

The photos, stuffed animals, game consoles, and puzzles I had forced into Ricardo’s room. 

Everything. 

After packing up, I dragged my luggage straight to the airport. 

Before boarding, Ricardo’s call popped up on my phone. 

My finger paused for a few seconds, then slid to block him. 

Early the next morning, my plane landed in C City. 

Marino came to pick me up and took me to my place. 

It was an independent little apartment, very close to C 

University. 

“You can stay here first. Use whatever you want.” 

I asked instinctively, “What about you?” 

Marino’s face turned a little red. 

“Ahem. I’ve been staying at Sean’s place lately. We’re together 

now.” 

My eyes widened, and I shook his shoulders like crazy. 

“You confessed and succeeded? Tell me everything. I need to 

hear this.” 

I had always known Marino had a crush on an upperclassman 

at C University. 

I just didn’t know the crush had lasted six years. 

By the time Marino finished telling the story, it was already 

dark outside. 

He waved his phone. 

“Sean’s here to get me. It’s a little late today, so I’ll buy you 

dinner next time.” 

After seeing Marino off, I cleaned up and went to take a 

shower. 

Halfway through, I heard someone knocking and assumed 

Marino had forgotten something. 

I quickly rinsed off, put on pajamas, and opened the door. 

“Marino, did you forget to take…” 

When I saw the person outside, my pupils shrank, and I 

slammed the door shut with both hands. 

Bang. 

A hand wedged into the door crack and forced it open. 

I looked up and crashed into Ricardo’s blood–red eyes. 

Remembering the comments about me being torn apart, panic seized me instantly. 

“Don’t… don’t come near me.” 

My fingers fumbled over my phone to unlock it. 

I had just entered the emergency number when Ricardo’s 

figure covered me completely. 

He stared at the emergency call on the screen, then curled his 

lips in a cold, savage smile. 

“Talia Moretti, care to explain?” 

It was the first time I had ever seen Ricardo look so terrifying. 

My legs almost gave out. 

“Please let me go. I swear I’ll stay far away from you from now 

1. on. I’ll never appear in front of you again. Or you can send me 

abroad… mmph!” 

My jaw ached so badly it felt like it might shatter. 

Ricardo’s eyes held a crazed obsession as he spat out two 

words. 

“Dream on.”
