The CEO’s Secret Lover Watched Him Choose Another Chapter 07

Sophia threw a pillow at him and shoved him out

the door.

Ethan grabbed his backpack, carefully packing the camera and laptop, stuffed his clothes into a plastic bag, and went looking for Olivia.

On his way out, he ran into Jake and some others coming back from souvenir shopping.

“Whoa, what happened to you? Things not work out with Sophia? Weren’t you two all over each other at the lookout? She get mad about the photos? Every time I mess up the lighting, my girlfriend threatens to leave

me.”

“Hey, where are you going?”

They watched him go to Olivia’s door and knock.

Jake looked confused. “You’re looking for Olivia? She checked out already.”

Ethan’s hand froze mid–knock. He turned stiffly. “When? The trip isn’t over until this afternoon.”

“She left last night after dinner. Said she had family stuff. Probably back in Crestwood by now.”

“Wait… you needed something from her? I didn’t think you two even talked much.”

Ethan didn’t answer. He opened their chat. His

messages lined one side, unanswered. Maybe unread.

He tried calling. It went straight to voicemail.

Jake looked around at the others. “Did she tell any of you why she was going back? It’s been hours. She

should be home by now.”

One of the girls‘ faces lit up with gossipy glee. “Check your feeds. She went back to have dinner with her boyfriend and both their parents. Probably busy

with that right now.”

Ethan’s face went dark. “No, she didn’t. My

parents aren’t in Crestwood. Why would they be having

dinner together?”

The girl looked at him strangely. “Who said anything about your parents? You’re not her boyfriend.”

“Look at Liam’s post. He put up a whole album.”

Ethan’s brain went blank.

The others pulled out their phones, and then Jake

was grinning. “Ohhh, it’s Liam! That makes sense.

Olivia said her boyfriend wasn’t on the trip, and Liam

left the first night. He wasn’t here.”

Ethan remembered now. Liam was the guy who’d

drawn Olivia’s number.

He barely knew him. He didn’t even have his

number.

Ethan’s vision tunneled as he snatched Jake’s

phone.

At the center of the collage was one photo, two

families seated together in front, Olivia in a pale pink dress standing beside Liam.

She was smiling warmly. She’d even put on

makeup.

One of the girls leaned in, her voice dripping with conspiracy. “Did you see the caption?”

Ethan’s eyes traveled up.

[Seven years of waiting, finally paid off.]

“I just found this out too. Liam and Olivia have known each other since freshman year of high school.

He was openly into her for three years, everyone at

their school knew.”

“He followed her to the same college. Same major

and everything.”

“He’s been invisible to us this whole time, but he never gave up. And then they drew the same number on this trip. It’s like the universe was setting them up.”

The group was growing, voices

overlapping with excitement.

Someone asked, “Do you think they’ve been

together this whole time? Like, secretly dating since

freshman year?”

“Could be. Maybe since the start…”

“No!”

Ethan cut through the chatter like a blade. His face was ashen, his voice tight.

“I’m her boyfriend. We’ve been together for three

years.”

The hallway went silent.

Jake’s mouth dropped open. “You… but she… she heard me tell you about the ball. Why didn’t she say anything?”

It hit Ethan like a freight train.

“She knew.”

“She knew the whole time… that’s why…”
