My foolish Godfather husband led me back to conquer New York Chapter 10

A year later, a new herb garden appeared in the backyard of the De Luca estate.

It wasn’t just mine.

Nico insisted on helping.

Dressed in an expensive black shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, he held a shovel and planted huanggin where the mint was supposed to go.

I stood nearby, holding back my temper-barely.

“Nico De Luca.”

He froze.

Every time I called him by his full name, he knew he was in trouble.

He looked up, all innocence.

“I used to read military maps.”

“And you can’t read a garden layout?”

“Enemies don’t all look this similar.”

I couldn’t help it-I laughed.

“You’re sleeping in the outer room tonight.”

He immediately put down the shovel.

“Darling.”

I raised a brow.

He blinked, then suddenly put on that familiar foolish grin.

“Darling, don’t be mad.”

I stared at him.

“Try pretending again and see what happens.”

He straightened at once.

“I wouldn’t dare.”

That night, he still climbed into my bed.

I pushed him.

“Weren’t you supposed to sleep outside?”

He wrapped his arms around me and shut his eyes, pretending to sleep.

“I don’t understand. My brain was damaged once.”

I was so annoyed I wanted to kick him.

But he held me tight.

Moonlight spilled through the window.

And suddenly, I remembered the night I first married into the De Luca family.

Back then, I thought I had simply been sent from one cage into another.

But now-

there was the herb garden, Martha, Lena, the sea breeze, the lights.

And a man who had once pretended to be a fool to deceive me-

yet had also clumsily placed his real heart in my hands.

I said softly,

“Nico.”

“Mm?”

“No more lies.”

He opened his eyes and looked at me.

Chapter 10

*Alright *

“About anything.”

“Alright.”

“If you lie again, I’ll take my medicine kit and leave.”

He tightened his arms around me instantly.

“No.”

I looked at him.

He lowered his voice.

“You can be angry. You can punish me. You can even point the De Luca family’s gun at me.”

He paused.

“But don’t leave.”

I fell silent.

After a long moment, I lifted my hand and gently brushed through his hair.

“That depends on how you behave.”

He smiled.

Like that foolish boy who once chased butterflies.

And like the man who now ruled the New York night.

“Then I’ll behave for a lifetime.”

Many years later, the underworld of New York still tells the story of Nico De Luca.

They say he played the fool for three years, then rose in a single night to purge traitors and reclaim his throne.

Some say the most outrageous thing he ever did wasn’t taking back the De Luca family, overturning the port lines, or burying those who betrayed him.
