Call from the Future- My Husband Told Me My Best Friend Bared His Children Chapter 02

The words barely left Gideon’s mouth before searing pain tore through my skull. This timeline’s memories flooded in.

Just as he’d said. We had been happy once. To make up for abandoning me at our engagement party, he’d given me two spectacular weddings. The cathedral ceremony was pure romance. The ballroom reception was pure opulence.

But at the peak of my joy, I got the news. My parents’ flight home had gone down. Total wreckage. I collapsed on the spot.

When I woke, I was in the recovery ward next to theirs. Severe miscarriage symptoms. I couldn’t keep anything down. The miscarriage-prevention shots left me black and blue from hip to shoulder. I couldn’t even step out of that room.

When I shattered, Gideon held me tight. “Seraphina. We’re husband and wife now. Your burden is my burden. Stop crying. I’ll handle everything.”

He checked me into the hospital. Contacted every specialist. Took an entire year off work. Made my pregnancy meal plans by hand. Brought fresh flowers every morning and evening. Never missed a single night of Reading to the baby. My condition stabilized. My parents’ condition improved.

Then came the day the doctors said my parents were about to wake up. I dragged myself out of bed. Wanted to be there. Just in the next room.

I pushed open the door. And saw them. Tangled. Devouring each other.

Three hours earlier, that man had texted me. What do you want to eat today, babe? Now he had Serena pressed against my parents’ hospital bed. Frantic. Desperate. A thread of saliva glistened between them before they swallowed it back down.

Revulsion poured through me. My stomach seized. A blade twisting deep.

And then my parents’ eyes opened. They saw everything. The two bodies writhed together at the foot of their bed.

My father’s face went purple. My mother’s hand lifted. Shaking. “You… how… how dare you…”

Panic choked me. I stumbled backward. Screamed for doctors. Too late. The heart monitor blipped. Twice. Then flatlined into dead, eternal silence. The doctors delivered the cold verdict. No chance of recovery. Not this time.

I forgot about the baby inside me. Threw myself at them. Wanted to claw the flesh from their bones. “Why?! What did I do?! What did my parents do?! You couldn’t control yourselves? You had to do it here?!”

Gideon let me kick him. Bite him. Tear at him. But the moment my hand accidentally grazed Serena, he flung me away. Hard.

My stomach slammed into the corner of a table. The baby was gone.

He cradled me after. Guilt all over his face. Called for the doctor. Gentle. Then said the cruelest words imaginable. “We only chose here because we had to hide it from you. Maybe it’s better you found out. We’re tired of sneaking around.”

“The night I told you I loved you? I was with her next door. That’s when it started.”

“Don’t grieve the baby. Serena’s twins are already growing up. You can be their godmother.”

Blood filled my mouth. I retched it onto the floor. Gideon’s hand shook. He tried to wipe my face. I smacked him away. Hatred burned from my heart through my eyes. I almost wept blood. “I will destroy you both.”

I took it to every media outlet. I wanted them ruined. Destroyed. Erased. He let me rage. Apology gifts poured in like water.

But when Serena couldn’t take being called a mistress anymore and slit her wrists—he broke. He publicly released a marriage certificate from overseas. Announced to the world she was his one and only wife.

Under her tears, he used his husband authority to issue a psychiatric evaluation report. Then he locked me inside that facility. With his own hands.

Three years. Electroshock. Beatings. Fighting dogs for scraps. Every torment imaginable.

And Serena stepped into my life. Became the envied Mrs. Hale.

All those dark memories. Absorbed in seconds. But the damage carved into my bones made me shake so hard I could barely stand.

Gideon stepped closer. Wiped sweat from my forehead. His voice cautious. Testing. “Seraphina. You probably don’t know about the last three years, do you?”
