He Wanted an AI Bride Swap? Surprise, I Swapped Husbands for Real! Chapter 08

After that night at the club, Damian started going after Nathan’s business.

He undercut competitors’ prices to snatch their orders, then used Cross Group’s available cash to buy up goods at inflated prices.

When the news reached me, Nathan was reviewing financial reports.

“He’s trying to force you to back down?”

Nathan closed the file.

“But now all that inventory is sitting in a warehouse while the financing costs keep piling up.”

He didn’t raise his prices. He fulfilled his contracts as planned and refused to absorb Cross Group’s pileup.

Several loans came due one after another, forcing Damian to scramble for cash. The money he’d intended to use to bring Nathan down ended up trapping him instead.

I was handling my account too.

The account had always been registered under my real name. The company had only been authorized to operate it.

I gave my lawyer the authorization contract and livestream recordings and had the evidence formally preserved. Then I submitted a request to the platform to terminate the partnership and restore my management rights.

The day the request was approved, I logged into the account dashboard and removed the company’s administrator access.

My fingertip hovered over the confirm button. I stared at it for a long time before pressing down.

That afternoon, I posted a photo.

The old wedding photo, torn to pieces, spread across a table.

The caption was one line:

[My body was never the problem. It was the cruelty in people’s hearts.]

Then I made the test results, medical records, and police report receipt public after having my lawyer review them and redact all personal information. I also explained how the sample had been collected and when my account had been handed over to Sienna.

“All materials have been submitted to the police. The investigation is ongoing. I’ll cooperate. And I’ll continue treatment.”

Within hours, the comments were flooded with shares and questions.

The same people who’d mocked me for gaining weight dug up old livestreams, and Sienna’s remark about my use of “extreme methods” was captured in a screenshot alongside the test report.

I didn’t scroll further. I sent the medical records the police requested to my lawyer.

The next day, Cross Group’s stock plunged, several business partners suspended contract signings, and complaints forced Sienna’s livestream to stop.

Damian sat in his office, collection notices spread across his desk, while his computer screen remained fixed on my statement.

PR sent up a plan. He flipped to the last page and picked up the internal line.

“Cut all of Sienna’s resources. Take back the villa the company gave her.”

His assistant hesitated. “The account — you authorized that.”

“Then audit it.” Damian cut him off. “Audit every livestream sales contract she handled and every commission payment, line by line. Have the legal team pursue her for any liabilities she’s responsible for.”

He hung up and messaged my lawyer.

“I’ve handled Sienna. Will Elara see me now?”

No reply.

He stared at the screen until it went dark.

That evening, Damian put on the suit I’d once complimented, placed the suspension notice and eviction documents on the passenger seat, and drove to The Rhodes Estate.

The car stopped at an intersection.

He turned his head. His eyes caught on the bridal shop window on the corner.

Inside, I was standing in front of the mirror.

White fabric spread around me. Crystals caught the light as I turned.

Pins still marked the waist for alterations. I smoothed the dress, didn’t reach to cover my stomach.

Nathan stood behind me, bending to fix my veil.

The veil caught on his cuff. We leaned together, fumbling with it.

I laughed suddenly and swatted his arm.

Damian leaned forward instinctively. The seatbelt caught his chest.

He looked down at the papers beside him. Then up again.

The light turned green.

Horns blared behind him. He kept his hands on the wheel.

Knuckles white. Foot frozen above the gas.
