Harper went first. Her cheeks were flushed under the stage lights.

“If you could go back in time, would you choose someone else?”

The crowd went wild.

I crossed my legs and scrolled through tomorrow’s flights on my phone. None of my business.

Julian blinked, caught off guard. He shook his head.

Harper’s smile dimmed. The spark in her voice died. “Your turn.”

“What’s your favorite food?” Julian asked. Harper tilted her head. “Don’t you already know?”

The flirting wasn’t subtle. The whoops got louder.

The manager nudged my elbow. “Hey — want me to get your husband off the stage? You two can head out early.”

I looked up.

“Don’t bother.” I locked my phone. “After tonight, he won’t be my husband anymore.”

I stood up and walked out. I could feel Julian’s eyes on my back the whole way — until the door swung shut between us.

I went straight home. Julian was right behind me — barely minutes later.

“What’s wrong?” He reached for me, trying to pull me in.

I stepped aside. “Nothing.”

“You’re lying,” he said.

“Eleanor, we’ve been married for years. I know you — every look, every mood.” He softened. “I can tell from your face whether you’ve had a bad day or just a long one.”

I didn’t answer. Just looked at him. Long enough that the confidence drained from his face and he started asking what was going on, what I wanted.

“You know me so well,” I said, smiling. “Figure it out.”

The smile was enough. He relaxed. He dropped back onto the couch.

“You want me to spend some time with you, right?” He stretched. “I’ll take a couple days off.”

“You mentioned wanting to start setting up the nursery — let’s do that.”

I said nothing and went to bed.

Julian was gone by morning. I didn’t hear from him all day — found out through his posts that Harper had gotten drunk after the party and taken a fall walking home.

He was at her place, taking care of her.

Fine by me. I stayed home and packed.

I signed the divorce papers. Set them on the coffee table next to the clinic discharge form, weighed both down with a glass.

When everything was in order, I grabbed my suitcase and walked out.

I headed straight for the airport. The sky had bruised dark by the time I got there.

Right before boarding, my phone went off. Message after message, flooding the screen.
