My Alpha Married My Best Friend Over a Game Chapter 02

My hand froze on the zipper.

Clive explained like it was the most natural thing in the world. “It’s just a punishment. I’m the Alpha. I have

to accept the loss. If you hadn’t thrown a tantrum and run home, none of this would have happened.”

“Next Monday, she and I will reject each other. Then I’ll bond with you at the temple right away.”

Locking at how calm he was, I suddenly remembered all the other times we’d gone to the temple for our

bonding ceremony.

Every time, something came up.

Either his car broke down, or the pack badge he was carrying went missing.

This time, we’d finally prepared everything, and they started that disgusting statue game again.

But the moment he and Charlotte made their vows, everything went smoothly.

It was as if The Moon Goddess herself didn’t approve of us,

Charlotte smiled brightly. “I can’t believe the last punishment was that he couldn’t complete an official bonding ceremony with you three times. And he actually followed through.”

I looked at Clive in disbelief.

So all three failed ceremonies had been carefully planned by him.

And I had blamed my bad luck every time. I’d thought The Moon Goddess refused to bless us.

When Clive saw my expression, he reached for my hand.

“Darling, I didn’t tell you before because I was afraid you’d get angry. Don’t worry. We’ll go again next

Monday. This time it will work.”

I yanked my hand back and laughed until tears came.

“Go again for what? To give you two another chance to play your game? To let you humiliate me again?”

“Alpha Clive, you two make me sick.”

“We’re done. Play your games by yourselves from now on. I’m out.”

I dragged my suitcase toward the door.

Alpha Clive moved to stop me, but then Charlotte’s voice rang out. “Three, two, one. Statue!”

The game began.

The footsteps stopped

I kept walking with my suitcase and didn’t look back.

Over the next few days, I focused on preparing for the Northern Outpost assignment.

The doorbell rang. I thought it was the pack transport team I’d scheduled.

I opened the door. It was Alpha Clive.

For a second, I was surprised. Every time we’d fought before, I had been the one to back down first.

So when he handed me a perfume that had been on my wish list for ages and asked for forgiveness, I actually wavered. I hated myself for it.

I took the pretty box and slowly opened it.

A spring-loaded fanged clown popped out right in

I screamed and threw the box away.

my face.

Laughter burst through the hallway. Charlotte stepped out of the shadows, doubled over. “Hahaha, Felicity, don’t blame him. This was his punishment for losing the game. I can’t believe the idiot actually did it!”

My heart went completely cold.

Alpha Clive smiled and reached for my hand. “All right, enough sulking. Come home with me.”

I stepped aside. “I told you. We’re done.”

His smile faded. “Keep this up and it won’t be pretty.”

As if a few condescending words from an Alpha should make me grateful.

I was tired. “I really don’t want to be part of your games anymore.”

“It’s just a game. Why can’t you take it?” There was confusion on his face. Then his gaze landed on something inside my place, and only smugness remained. “You keep saying we’re broken up, but you’re secretly keeping my and Charlotte’s things to reminisce?”

I followed his gaze to the pile of stuff I’d sorted out in the corner.

On top was a photo from our trip last year. I’d been planning to return it.

I handed him the box “These are your things. Take them.”

His face darkened. “You’re serious?”

Charlotte finally spoke. “Felicity, you’re not really breaking up over a game, are you? It was just a joke.”

I looked at her. “But I didn’t want to play, and I didn’t find it funny. You used my things as bets. You used my dignity and my life as a game. It’s disgusting.”

I handed another box to Charlotte. “Take it. We’re even now.”
