He Chose Her, So I Refused to Become His Luna Chapter 05

The lights in my hotel room are still on.

The bed is perfectly made, without a single sign that anyone has slept in it.

Nathan stands in the doorway, repeatedly dialing the number I’ve already deactivated.

But all he gets is the same cold automated message.

William opens the closet.

Only a few empty hangers remain.

Marcus checks the bathroom and the luggage rack, searching through every drawer as well.

Henry is the one who finds a veterinary hospital receipt on the desk.

It’s dated yesterday.

Oreo has spent the entire day receiving IV fluids at the animal hospital because of severe stress. Under the

name of the person who paid the bill, there is only one name.

Mine.

The four men fall silent at the same time.

While they are helping Jasmine pick out bedsheets, choose curtains, and decorate her new room, I’m alone

at the veterinary hospital with a sick Oreo in my arms.

Nathan suddenly turns and heads for the door.

“She had a follow–up appointment this afternoon. She has to be at the Pack hospital.”

When the four of them arrive, the treatment room is already empty.

The nurse on duty recognizes them immediately.

More accurately, she recognizes the four names listed on Rebecca Campbell’s medical record as her

emergency contacts.

She looks at Nathan, “You’re Rebecca Campbell’s family?”

Nathan immediately nods, “Where is she?”

The nurse’s expression turns cold.

“You’re only asking now?”

“The patient suddenly suffered severe bleeding this afternoon and needed emergency treatment. We took her phone and called all four of you.”

“Not one of you answered.”

The color drains from Nathan’s face.

“She only came in for a follow–up. How could she suddenly start bleeding so badly?”

The nurse opens her medical file.

“There was retained tissue in her uterus, along with a postoperative infection. If she had arrived any later, the consequences could have been much more serious.”

She closes the file.

“After she woke up, she arranged a transfer to another hospital. We’re not authorized to tell you where she

went.”

William opens his mouth, “Did she leave any message for us?”

The nurse looks up at him.

“Yes. She asked me to remove all four of you from her emergency contact list.”

Henry’s hand, hanging at his side, suddenly curls into a tight fist.

At 1:30 that afternoon, he promised to come pick me up.

But then Jasmine called and said she had accidentally broken a glass and cut her foot on the shards.

The four of them went straight to her.

The cut wasn’t even an inch long.

The Pack doctor didn’t need to stitch it. He only put a small bandage over it.

And yet they stayed with her to buy household supplies, decorate her room, and eventually have dinner

together.

Not one of them remembered that I was still sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for them.

Marcus’s voice turns hoarse, “She signed the consent form herself?”

“Yes.”

The nurse lets out a bitter laugh.

“After she signed her own name, she even asked me if she could leave the emergency contact section completely blank.”

She looks at the four men standing in front of her.

“I’ve worked at this Pack hospital for years. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen four emergency contacts, and

not a single one of them could be reached.”

Nathan braces one hand against the wall.

His wolf lets out a low, mournful cry at the loss of his mate, and his knuckles turn white from how hard he

grips the wall.

Only now does he truly understand.

When I wrote in the group chat that the Pack doctor said I shouldn’t go alone, I wasn’t being needy.

I wasn’t trying to force them to prove that they cared about me.

I really needed them.

All four of them promised they would come, yet they still chose to leave me behind.

The nurse turns to leave, but Nathan immediately follows her.

“How is she now?”

“She’s stable for the moment.”

“Then which hospital did she go to?”

The nurse stops.

“Her parents requested that information remain confidential.”

After a pause, she adds, “They also asked me to tell you not to inquire about Rebecca Campbell as her

family anymore.”

She looks directly at Nathan, “You’re not her family anymore.”

The hallway falls completely silent.

The fluorescent lights overhead are painfully bright.

Nathan stands there for a long time before taking out his phone and calling Pack Elder Grace.

When the call connects, Grace sounds noticeably hesitant.

“Alpha Nathan, the Bonding Ceremony has been canceled.”

“Ms. Campbell paid the full cancellation fee. The dress, venue, and guest accommodations have all been

canceled as well.”

Nathan swallows, “When?”

“The day after she was admitted to the hospital.”

The call ends.

Nathan stares at his phone, unable to say a word.

So I was never waiting for him to turn back.

While he was spending that night with Jasmine, I had already ended the ten–year mate bond myself.

When the four men return to the Alpha House, Jasmine is sitting in the living room, opening the things she

has just bought.

The moment she sees them, she smiles and holds up a new floor lamp.

“You’re back. Perfect. Help me decide whether this lamp should go in the bedroom or the study.”

No one answers.

The smile slowly disappears from her face.

Nathan’s eyes fall on the room that was once prepared for our baby.

“Where are Rebecca’s things?”

Jasmine instinctively looks at Marcus.

Marcus closes his eyes for a moment, “She’s moved out.”

“What about the baby’s things?”

No one answers this time.

Nathan pushes open the nursery door.

Several small holes are still visible in the wall where the cloud lights were removed.

The spot where the crib once stood now holds a new vanity that Jasmine has bought.

A shopping receipt is still stuck to the mirror.

The timestamp reads 2:07 p.m.

At that exact moment, I’m alone in the treatment room undergoing an emergency procedure.

And they are helping Jasmine pick out furniture.

Nathan’s eyes instantly turn red.

He reaches out and sweeps everything off the vanity.

Glass bottles crash onto the floor, shattering with a sharp, piercing sound.

Jasmine takes a frightened step back.

“Nathan, what’s wrong?”

He looks at her, his voice dangerously low.

“GET OUT.”

Jasmine freezes, “But this is my home.”

“I said get out.”

Tears immediately fill her eyes.

If this were before, the other three men would already be rushing over to comfort her.

But this time, William, Marcus, and Henry don’t move.

Because only now do they finally understand.

I didn’t simply leave.

They were the ones who removed me from this home, one possession at a time.

And this time, I never look back.
