They Granted Her 100 Wishes And Forgot I Was Dying Too Chapter 07

Sophie quickly repeated what she’d overheard outside the study.

Ryan immediately objected. “Impossible. Molly wouldn’t do that.”

“Then where did the company’s money go? Who leaked the core code?”

Sophie challenged him, her eyes red. “She took copies of the technical files home at the launch. By the next

day, Shaw Tech had the code. You think that’s a coincidence?”

Evan watched her for a few seconds, then stood. “We’re going to our old startup office.”

Ben blinked. “Why?”

“To find the original code backup.”

Evan spoke quickly. “Maya kept her most sensitive encrypted files on a portable drive hidden in the storage room of the old building.”

“After the company took off, we bought that entire floor to remember where we started. She left all her old

materials there.”

“With the backup, we can patch the flaw. Maybe we can find out who leaked the code, too.”

The four of them left at once.

The old office sat empty for a long time. The storage room was in chaos.

They searched every shelf, getting dust all over their faces and hair, but found no drive.

Ryan’s arm caught the top of a shelf, knocking a heavy storage box onto the floor.

Ben crouched beside it. The box was old, and its brass padlock had rusted.

“Wasn’t this Maya’s? She carried it everywhere when we first started out.”

Evan picked up a nearby screwdriver and pried at the lock a few times until it sprang open.

When they lifted the lid, all four of them froze.

A palm-sized device lay on top, connected to a few strands of almost invisible filament. Matching magnetic patches sat beside it.

Ryan touched a switch on its side. Pale blue light appeared, projecting a floating string of changing numbers identical to the countdown they’d seen over Molly’s head.

Sophie went white.

A stack of agreements lay underneath, signed by Molly and Shaw Tech.

Evan pulled them out and skimmed a couple of pages. Molly was to supply the core code, and Shaw Tech was to pay her. There were also clauses covering their performance of the hundred-day wish scheme.

At the bottom lay a tablet. Its home screen held just one folder, labeled [The Hundred-Day Wish Plan].

Inside, all one hundred wishes were neatly listed, with their purposes written in small red letters beside them.

[1. Treat Maya as though she doesn’t exist for a day. Isolate her, destroy her social connections, and make

her doubt herself.]

[12. Lock her in the basement without food. Wear down her will and break her physical resistance.]

[79. Force her to bungee jump and use it to stage an accident. Ideally, trigger a fatal heart attack.]

[97. Take Evan from her and marry him. Destroy her emotional support.]

[98. Cut off her social connections. Block her and erase her from the family records. Leave her completely

isolated.]

[99. Take her house. Leave her homeless, with nowhere to turn.]

[100. Destroy her career on launch day and ruin her reputation.]

One cruel line after another.

Molly had never come from another world at all.

“Let’s go.”

After a long silence, Evan grabbed the device and agreements, slipped the tablet into his pocket, and headed

out.

The other three snapped out of their daze and hurried after him.

When the four of them returned to the house, Molly was standing with a suitcase, apparently on her way out.

She heard the door, turned, and saw their faces. Alarm flashed through her, but she immediately put on a

wounded expression.

“You’re all home? Is everything at the office taken care of?”

“I was just getting a few things together so I could bring you food at the office.”

“Drop the act.”

Evan threw the agreement at her feet.

Molly went pale for a moment, then forced herself to look calm.

“What’s this? I don’t understand it. Where did you get this stuff? Are you trying to frame me?”

“Frame you?”

Sophie’s voice trembled. “The miniature projector. The hundred-day wish plan. Do you want me to read it out,
