They Granted Her 100 Wishes And Forgot I Was Dying Too Chapter 06

Evan’s expression darkened as he read.

Over the past three months, most of the company’s working capital was transferred in installments through a handful of dummy accounts. The money ended up at Shaw Tech.

The core code had leaked the day after the launch.

He remembered that on launch day, Molly copied the technical files to take home, saying she wanted another

chance to familiarize herself with them.

Evan didn’t want to believe it, but every clue pointed straight at Molly.

He went home to confront her and heard her yelling as soon as he opened the door.

The living room was a mess. Takeout boxes crowded the coffee table, and the carpet was stained.

Molly sat on the couch shouting at Ben.

“You brought me soup this hot? Were you trying to burn me?”

Ben held the bowl, half the soup spilled, and patiently tried to soothe her.

“I didn’t realize. I’ll get you another bowl. What would you like me to make?”

“Cook what? As if anything you make is edible. The house never used to be this filthy. Can’t you clean it up?”

Ben said nothing. He put down the bowl and began picking up the trash.

Evan stood in the doorway. Suddenly, the house felt unfamiliar.

When Maya lived there, it was always clean and tidy.

The fridge was always stocked with fresh food. No one left glasses on the coffee table overnight.

They were busy with work, but every evening they came home to a hot meal. Their clothes were washed, folded, and put away. They never had to think about those chores.

They took it for granted, as though that was simply how a home worked.

After little more than ten days with Molly in charge, it looked like a rental no one bothered to care for.

Sophie came by after work and frowned at what she saw.

She helped clean all afternoon. That evening, Molly complained about the noise Sophie made mopping, retreated to her room, and slammed the door.

Sophie stood in the living room, exhausted and short of breath.

She’d always thought those chores were trivial. Now she knew how much effort they took.

Two days later, Sophie stopped by to pick up some files she’d left behind. She happened to hear Molly on the

phone.

“Don’t worry. Those four idiots still haven’t figured out a thing.”

“They’re such idiots. Maya treated them so well, and they turned on her just like that. Without her, they’re nothing. We can play them however we want.”

“She felt sorry for me and gave herself up so I could stay? Only those idiots would believe that.”

“Maya has her own stupidity to blame. She thought everyone around her was a real friend, and I still took everything from her.”

Sophie’s blood ran cold.

She covered her mouth, unable to believe what she’d heard.

Molly kept talking inside the study, her laughter harsh and grating.

“Once I transfer the rest of the company’s assets, I’m leaving for good.”

“Those four? Let them fend for themselves. They shouldn’t have been so eager to help me.”

Sophie stepped back and hit the wall.

The voice inside the study stopped abruptly.

Sophie came to her senses and hurried away.

Every odd detail from the past suddenly fell into place.

It had been a con from the start.

Molly had never been some helpless girl in need of their sympathy. She’d been acting the entire time.

And the four of them had driven away the person who truly cared about them, giving all their love and trust

to a calculating liar.

Sophie went straight to the company. When she burst into Evan’s office, Ben and Ryan were there, too. The

three of them frowned over a desk covered in breach-of-contract notices.

Evan looked up at her pale face and frowned. “What happened?”

Sophie stood panting for a long moment before she managed to speak. “Molly’s hiding something.”

Ben’s face hardened. “Sophie, what are you talking about?”

“I heard her myself.”
