Rejected by the King, Protected by Her Alpha Twin Chapter 07

Rejected by the King, Protected by Her Alpha Twin Chapter 07 Sealed-In Evidence

Caus snatched the written record and flipped its pages fast. His cedar-scented pheromones spun into wild, unhinged chaos.

The facts left zero room for doubt: Evelyn had never carried a cub.

She’d bribed a wolf healer to fake a pregnancy with specialized herbs. A leather pouch fun of beast blood had been hidden under her ritual gown.

At the moon altar, she’d baited Selene on purpose.

Before Selene could even lay a hand on her, Evelyn threw herself down the stone steps, burst the blood-filled pouch, and framed Selene for killing her unborn cub.

That lie cost my sister her title as luna and got her publicly cast out of the pack’s capital.

“It’s fake.” Caius stared at the document, his voice rough and menacingly low.

Evelyn writhed, sobbing hysterically. “Yes-it has to be fake! Selene hates me! She and Vesper forged this to wreck my coronation!”

Curled safe in my arms, Selene offered a faint, exhausted smile.

“The last page bears the wolf healer’s blood-contract seal. “Those gold-backed payment slips also carry the wolf crest of Evelyn’s house.”

She lifted her eyes to Caius.

“You kept badgering me for proof. “It’s right there in your hands.”

Caius’s fingers tightened around the record. “You knew the truth all along. Why never tell me?”

Every last spark of warmth died inside Selene’s gaze. “I did tell you.”

Caius went rigid.

“I told you Evelyn was never pregnant. You wrote me off as consumed by jealousy and tossed the evidence away right in front of my face.”

Selene paused. Her tone held a quiet, cutting cruelty.

“The alpha king-have you forgotten?”

Caius’s lips twitched. He had not forgotten.

A wolf spirit never forgot the aura of despair rolling off its fated mate.

He had simply chosen not to believe.

I lifted Selene and turned to leave.

“Ronan, call the Elder Council, plus every chieftain from all of the vassal packs. “Was today supposed to be the new luna’s coronation?”

I glanced down at Evelyn huddled on stone and pulled a sharp, bitter smile.

“Then let every witness see exactly who they nearly knelt before.”

Panic crashed over Evelyn.

“No! Caius, kill them! Once they’re dead, no one can-

spun toward her. Crushing alpha aura exploded outward, slamming Evelyn flat to the floor and choking her screams short.

Half an hour later, pack elders filled the moon temple.

I stepped onto the altar holding Selene, and muted, shocked gasps rippled through the hall.

Father still grasped at desperate denial.

“These are not my daughters! Rogue wolves planted look-alike twins to fool the whole pack!”

I passed Selene over for Ronan to steady, then ripped open the shoulder panel of my hardened leather armor.

A ragged old scar ran across my shoulder blade and down my back; silvery burn marks lingered along its edges, left by silver weapons.

One look, and the Grand Elder shot to his feet.

“Twelve years ago, Vesper stood alone against assassins to shield the old alpha king. “That scar’s placement and shape were formally recorded. It cannot be faked.”

Father’s face turned ashen.

He’d thought the truth of that assassination attempt had been buried forever.

But before the old alpha king died, he’d carved the full account into the blood-contract stone.

The Grand Elder boomed his sharp question.

“If Vesper is still alive, why did you claim three years ago that her wolf spirit had faded, slain

by bloodline backlash?”

e took the herbs and ran of her own accord!” Father blurted.

A cold, short laugh escaped me. I pulled a black horn-carved vial off my waist belt and hurled it at his feet.

The stopper shattered on impact. A rank, acrid stench flooded the temple.

Multiple elders well-versed in herbal poisons shifted, faces hardening at once.

“This forbidden brew eats through bloodlines and destroys a wolf spirit.”

I descended the altar steps, my gaze locked on my father.

“Three years ago, my private guards salvaged this sample from discarded medicine dregs. “Since Father swears this was nothing but ordinary fake-death potion-drink it in front of everyone.”

I nudged the horn vial with my boot toe until it sat right at his knees.

“Drink it, and I will declare you innocent.”

His legs buckled. He crashed heavily to his knees.

Mother threw herself forward, weeping.

“We only feared a twin alpha would spark blood feuds! “Vesper had to vanish so Selene could take her place as luna with no conflict. We never truly meant to kill her!”

“A dosage potent enough to burn out a wolf spirit-and you claim you never wanted me dead?”

I crouched, gripped my mother’s chin, and forced her eyes onto Selene’s battered, hurt body.

“You plotted to murder one daughter and betrayed the other. “How dare you say you acted for our good?”

Roars of righteous fury burst from the assembled elders.

Seeing all hope lost, Evelyn suddenly jabbed an accusing finger at Selene.

“She colluded with Vesper’s private guards! “How else could she give them orders after banishment? Those sisters have always plotted to seize the alpha king’s throne!”

Ronan stepped forward with a cold scoff. “We answer to one commander only: Vesper.

“Three years ago, her father ordered us to swear fealty to Caius. Nineteen brothers who refused got locked in the dungeon and tortured to death.”

Father’s head snapped upward. Pure terror showed plain on his face.

I closed in on him and slowly drew my long sword.

“Father. You lured my men into a trap to get them killed.”

I rested the blade’s sharp edge against his cheek, my smile turning eerily soft.

“Tell me. For those nineteen dead men-“Where should I start collecting your debt”
