The Baby Whisperer They Tried To Tear Apart Chapter 02

Julian’s expression darkened. He panicked and tried to throw the bra into the swimming pool.

But Sierra grabbed it first and handed it to someone to inspect.

When she saw the obvious stains on it, her face darkened with rage.

She glanced at my flat, unremarkable chest. Then she spun around and slapped Julian across the face.

“I remember every single person who breastfeeds my daughter. It’s not her.”

“Who is the bitch?”

Sierra’s ring cut Julian’s face, but he didn’t dare show an ounce of anger.

He just stared at me with venomous eyes and kept slinging mud.

“Who says someone who isn’t nursing can’t have that scent?”

“I’ve heard that some rare women produce milk even when not nursing.”

“No matter how fussy a baby is, when they get close to her, they stop crying and want to be held.”

“She’s young, yet she was offered a six-figure salary to work for the Sterlings. Maybe that’s her gift.”

“That bra belongs to her.”

Julian’s story was vivid and detailed. Sierra demanded that I strip right there to prove my innocence.

Of course I refused. I pulled out my phone to call 911.

But Julian grabbed my phone and smashed it on the ground.

“You say it’s not yours, so let them test it. Why are you stalling? You’re acting guilty.”

I wasn’t about to back down.

“I didn’t do it. Just because you throw out a baseless accusation, I’m supposed to humiliate myself to prove my innocence? Then I’d say you’re impotent.”

“Why don’t you drop your trousers and prove it to everyone?”

Julian had no response, but Sierra’s frown deepened.

She said, “Julian isn’t the kind of man to lie about something like this. Since you say the bra isn’t yours, find a way to prove it.”

“Or get in the cage and become dog food.”

“I believe anyone who lies will become very honest when faced with those teeth.”

Sierra was forcing my hand.

Strip to prove my innocence, or get in the cage and feed the dog.

The Sterling security team had already surrounded me.

If I tried to run, they would swarm me, stuff me into that cage, and leave me to die under the mastiff’s teeth.

I took a deep breath and made my choice.

I pulled my documents out of my bag.

A diploma from a top Swiss university, a PhD in Economics.

And an offer letter from Transatlantic Global Capital naming me Chief Investment Strategist.

I didn’t show the offer letter; I didn’t want to drag my employer into this mess.

I held up the two diplomas and said to Sierra, “Miss Sterling, I went to school in Switzerland. Everyone knows how hard it is to study there.”

“I spent six years earning a PhD in finance from one of the best universities in the world. My salary is half a million a year.”

“Do you really think I would work for a fraction of that, spend every waking moment caring for a crying baby, and constantly watch out for some scheming man in the house?”

That last line was intentional.

I wanted Sierra to know I had no interest in her family’s six figure job.

Only a rich girl born with a silver spoon and half a brain would believe the lies of a man like Julian.

Sure enough, Sierra’s expression softened when she saw my diplomas.

Even she wasn’t stupid enough to question what a Swiss PhD meant.

But just as her sharp gaze shifted back to Julian, a woman rushed out and slapped me three times in a row, screaming insults at me.

“Patricia, are you insane? Forging documents to scam the richest family in New England?”

“Aren’t you afraid that when this blows up, you’ll drag our whole family down with you?”
