He Had Time for Everything but Me Chapter 08

Vanessa threw another fit.

“Are you still thinking about Claire? What’s so great about her? Even her own parents couldn’t stand her!”

For the first time, Grant gave her a cold look.

“Shut up.”

“You’re telling me to shut up? Get this straight, Grant. You were the one who pursued me! You were the one

who said Claire was nothing but a tool, that you only needed her womb!”

“That’s enough.” Grant’s voice turned icy. “She isn’t a tool.”

Vanessa laughed.

“Stop dreaming. Claire is never coming back to you.”

“You hurt her, and you still expect her to forgive you? You’re disgusting!”

Grant lost it and slapped her hard across the face.

“I told you to shut up! What part of that don’t you understand?”

Vanessa covered her cheek and stared at him in disbelief.

“You hit me? You actually hit me!”

“I’m not going to shut up. I’m going to say everything. You’re a joke, Grant. You kept calling Claire a tool and

did everything you could to hurt her. Now you think one apology will make her forgive you?”

“You married me but wouldn’t let her go. Now that she’s actually gone, you’re blaming me for ruining your

relationship.”

“I’m ashamed that I ever fell for a man like you!”

“Fine. Let’s get divorced. A man like you deserves to be miserable for the rest of his life!”

“Since we’re getting divorced anyway, I might as well tell you the truth. Yes, Claire showed up at the wedding

because of me. When you asked me to make an Al wedding simulation for her, I sent you the one featuring our wedding. You forwarded it to Claire without even checking what was in it.”

Grant glared at her. “So it was you! How could you be cruel enough to hurt her like that?”

Vanessa laughed again. “That’s rich, Grant. You wanted both of us. Weren’t you hurting her too?”

“Now you’re acting like the good guy so you can judge me, but you’re the one who said touching her disgusted you!”

“You told me not to touch her!” he argued.

Vanessa sneered. “If I told you to die, would you do it? You blame women for every choice you make. You’re

disgusting.”

When the divorce was finally official, Grant smiled for the first time.

“Claire, I finally divorced Vanessa. You’ll forgive me now, won’t you?”

Several months later, Grant finally found a lead.

I was thriving in Scandinavia.

My proposals had produced the best results in the local market for three quarters in a row, earning

recognition from headquarters.

In the photo, I had short hair and wore a sharp business suit. I stood among a group of local colleagues,

smiling brightly, my eyes full of life.

Grant stared at the photo for a long time.

The confident, composed woman in the picture looked nothing like the woman he remembered-the one who

had always waited for him to call and tried so hard to please him.

Grant bought a ticket to Scandinavia.

When he landed, the air was still bitterly cold.

After a long search, he found the Scandinavian branch and waited outside the building all day.

I didn’t come out until evening.

I was wrapped in a camel-colored coat, my short hair slightly tousled by the wind as I looked down at my

phone.

A blond, blue-eyed male colleague walked beside me. We were laughing and talking as we left the building.

Grant stepped forward and blocked my path.

I looked up and stopped the moment I recognized him.

“Claire!”

I had never expected to see Grant again.

I had no intention of ever going back.

The sight of him stirred feelings I hadn’t felt in a long time.

I turned and walked away.

He rushed after me, but he couldn’t catch up.

The next morning, my secretary told me that Grant wanted to see me.

My pen froze in my hand.

“No.”

“But he said…”
