System Glitch: My Mate from “Love” to “Hate” Chapter 08

System Glitch: My Mate from “Love” to “Hate” Chapter 08 Qur Bond Stands Forever True

“Got it, you dummy.”

“And one more thing.” He paused, his gaze deepening abruptly, “Don’t kiss me casually out in public from now on.”

“Why? Are you still shy?”

Caspian leaned close to my ear, his voice low enough to make my knees weak. “It’s not shyness, I won’t be able to hold myself back out where everyone can see.”

“Hold back from what?”

“From marking you right there in front of the whole crowd.”

I fell silent. What a shameless rogue!

Now that all misunderstandings had been cleared away, Caspian let loose the wildness he’d repressed for so long.

Of course, he only let it run free within my boundaries.

He no longer forced himself to act like a docile, rule–abiding alpha, nor did he smother the unruly, domineering instincts rooted deep in his bones.

Yet he still accompanied me to the Archives every single day to study ancient wolf scrolls together–only our way of studying had completely changed.

“How do you like my notes from last class?” He twirled his bone pen and tapped the back of my hand lightly with its cap.

I nodded softly, “They’re really well written.”

“Then I deserve a reward.” He tilted his cheek toward me, his hint plain as day.

My eyes flew wide, and hissed quietly, “We’re in the Archives!”

“What about the small wood grove out back on the mountain?”

“… Caspian !”

He grinned like a cat that had stolen cream, brimming with roguish, untamed ferocity, drawing lingering glances from countless she–wolves around us.

But deep down, I knew he belonged only to me, now and always.

The System had become our biggest cheerleader, screaming nonstop inside my mind every day: [Ahhh! Host, the way he looked at you just now was so tender and loving.]

[Is this the exclusive fondness only an alpha can give? I’m obsessed!]

[Even though that main system bug messed us up badly, we still got a happy ending!]

Truth be told, I was almost grateful for that glitch.

If I hadn’t thought he was utterly sick of me, I might never have realized how much this rebellious young wolf had changed himself, all for the sake of loving me.

Without this System and the conquest mission that granted me a second life, I would have died long ago, I never would have learned how deeply Caspian loved me–or even come to recognize my own feelings for him.

The pack–wide coronation ceremony for the new Alpha King drew to a close, crowded with elders and clansfolk below the platform.

Clad in silver–embroidered royal battle robes, the regalia of the newly crowned wolf

king, Caspian paid no mind to the solemn air surrounding him. He strode down the steps first, cutting through the throng straight toward me.

With every pair of eyes fixed on us, he bent down, swept me up bridal–style, and spun me in several circles, his silvery hair flying with every movement.

Just then, Simon walked over with his male partner at his side.

“Hail the new Alpha.” Simon smiled warmly and held out a bouquet of blooms.

Caspian dumped the flowers straight into my arms, slung an arm naturally around my waist, and tilted his chin up toward Simon, his eyes glinting with unmissable possessive pride. “Thanks, buddy.”

Simon shook his head helplessly, leaning to murmur to his partner beside him, “See? I told you this new king can’t hide his jealousy for a single second.”

That night, the whole clan held a grand feast to celebrate the new ruler’s

ascension.

A round of Truth or Dare rolled around, and the lot fell to Caspian.

The surrounding wolves burst into raucous teasing, and someone called out loudly, “Your Majesty, what’s the one thing you regret most in your life?”

Everyone assumed he would talk about skipping classes to fight in the underground Arena.

Instead, Caspian swirled the wine in his goblet, his gaze drifting past the noisy crowd to lock steadily on me. His sharp wolf eyes softened completely, stripped of all harsh edge.

“The thing I regret most…” He let out a quiet chuckle, “I regret turning and leaving you alone that rainy night.

“If I could go back to that evening, I would have slung you over my shoulder and carried you home. I’d keep you locked tight by my side, so you’d never have a chance to walk away from me.”

A murmur of shock rippled through the entire venue.

My cheeks burned hot enough to catch fire, and beneath the table, his large, warm palm laced firmly through my fingers.

Fireworks erupted in my mind courtesy of the System: [Congratulations, host! Mission successfully completed!]

[Outcome: Permanent rebirth secured.]

[Affection Level locked: Eternal.]

I squeezed his hand back, speaking silently to him in my heart: You don’t need to lock me away, Caspian.

I shall stay confined by my own will, only for you.
