She Wore My Kidney, I Wore Her Ruin Chapter 02

She Wore My Kidney, I Wore Her Ruin Chapter 02 Nothing to Feel Guilty About
She had clung to that debt for more than twenty years, repeating it until it became a spell.
And I had carried that gratitude just as long. Whenever she asked for anything, I gave it to her.
But now, looking back, I owed her nothing.
She was the one who had put those pesticide-covered greens in my hand.
My pain had started with her.
Outside the door, Bianca Lane pounded like she was losing her mind. Neighbors opened their doors one after another. Their faces were tight with irritation.
To keep things from turning ugly, I called the police.
When the officers arrived, Bianca became even more frantic.
“Nobody touch me! Clara, I know you’re in there! Are you really this heartless? You’ll regret it. When I die, you might not even get to see me one last time!
“Don’t you feel even the tiniest bit guilty?”
I laughed under my breath.
Guilty?
Why should I feel guilty?
Was I the one who had done wrong?
No matter what she said, I never opened the door. In the end, the police took her away.
That was when Bianca finally understood how much I hated her.
Enough to never want to see her again in this life.
Once everything outside went quiet, I let out another breath and stopped thinking about it.
The next morning, I bought a gift and followed the address Eleanor sent me to the hotel.
The moment I stepped into the private room, I saw Bianca.
Her face was sallow. She sat near the door alone. Around her, everyone else chatted and laughed. She looked like she belonged to a different world.
When she saw me, she froze.
I froze too.
I had never imagined I would see her here.
Then she shot to her feet, her lips trembling.
“Clara…”
The room fell silent. Every pair of eyes turned toward us.
I drew in a breath.
I had already prepared myself to never see her again. But now that plan had shattered, and the hatred still rose sharp in my chest.
In the next instant, she rushed toward me.
“Clara, you finally came to see me!”
I immediately stepped back. My cousin hurried over and blocked her.
“Enough. You’ve seen her. Today is Uncle Arthur’s birthday. Don’t say anything.”
“It’s Uncle Arthur’s birthday. I have every right to be here. Why are you going to stop me? I had to beg half the family before I saw the photo on someone’s Instagram. She is my biological sister!”
Seeing her on the edge of hysteria, I took Eleanor’s arm.
“Forget it. Let her stay for the meal and then leave. It’s Uncle Arthur’s birthday. Don’t make a scene and upset him.”
Eleanor could only nod. She pulled me farther inside.
But Bianca grabbed my wrist.
“Clara, can I say one thing to you? Just two sentences. Please.”
“There is nothing left for us to say.”
“No. I have to say it. Three years ago, you gave me a kidney. You saved my life. I repaid kindness with cruelty. I listened to your brother-in-law’s lies.
“I didn’t know he was that vicious. He wanted to take all my assets. That was why I believed him. I really didn’t know he was such a lowlife. Clara, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
I nodded.
An apology that came years too late meant nothing to me.
I pried her fingers off my wrist and walked straight inside. I greeted my uncle and the others.
She tried to follow, but Eleanor stopped her.
“That’s enough. You’ve seen her. You apologized. But an apology doesn’t force someone to forgive you.”
“Stop crying. It’s bad luck on a birthday. Eat if you want. Leave if you don’t.”
Eleanor’s words stripped away every excuse Bianca had.
She could only sit off to the side, frowning. When she realized no one would speak to her, her eyes reddened, and she left.
As soon as she was gone, the relatives started talking over one another.
