Reborn, I Gave Him What He Wanted and Stopped Saving Him Chapter 16

The crowd went silent.

Alexander froze.

He cautiously stepped closer.

A pleading smile appeared on his face.

“Sophia, please don’t be angry. If you don’t like this ring, I’ll get another.”

His eyes were full of desperation.

I felt nothing.

“The person I don’t like is you. No. It’s more than that. I hate you. You disgust me. Do you

understand?”

“You came here to propose because you want what? To ruin the rest of my life? To make me take care of you for the rest of your life because you’re disabled?”

The crowd erupted.

Someone stepped forward.

“That’s a horrible thing to say. If you didn’t love him, why did you date him? She probably ran because he got injured. She’s just after money.”

“Someone record this. Expose her.”

Phones came out. People pointed their cameras at me.

I didn’t hide.

I looked directly at Alexander.

“Is this what you wanted? Was destroying me once not enough? You want to destroy me again?”

Alexander’s face went pale.

“No. Sophia, that’s not what I… You think I’d marry you?”

I didn’t let him finish.

My voice rose.

“You forced me to donate blood for another woman’s patient. You threw me out of a hospital room While I was badly injured. You had security send me into police custody.”

“After everything you did, how can you stand here and ask me to marry you?”

“You lost both legs protecting another woman.”

“Now you’ve come back to me and expect me to spend the rest of my life taking care of you. Where do you get the nerve?”

The crowd fell silent.

The people who had been attacking me slowly lowered their phones.

Someone whispered:

“What a disgusting man. I thought he was devoted. Turns out he cheated.”

“Now he’s disabled and wants his ex to marry him so she’ll take care of him forever.”

“Maybe he deserves what happened. Why didn’t he just die?”

Every word burned into Alexander.

He couldn’t lift his head.

The crowd slowly dispersed.

Finally, Alexander looked at me.

His voice was barely audible.

“Sophia. Is there really no chance for us?”

I looked at him.

Then calmly shook my head.

“Alexander.” I’ll never forget what you said outside that fire. You said you’d rather have died in the crash than let me save you.”

“Saving you was my choice. I never asked you to marry me.”

“You were the one who said you loved me. You were the one who promised we’d spend our lives together.”

But in the end, you trampled all over my love and turned me into the villain who had supposedly saved you only to demand repayment. So I’ll never forgive you.”

Alexander’s face went completely white.

It was as if his spine had been broken.

After a long silence, he forced a bitter smile.

“Okay.”

“I understand.”

“I’m sorry.”

“I won’t bother you anymore, Sophia.”

I said nothing.

I turned around.

And walked away.
