Reborn, I Gave Him What He Wanted and Stopped Saving Him Chapter 05

But now, there was no rage on his face. Only panic and caution.

“Dr. Blackwood, my son took the medication his doctor prescribed and suddenly became unconscious. Could you please check if something was wrong with the prescription?”

I remembered what I had heard after the accident.

His wife had died from severe complications during childbirth. Her final wish had been for him to

raise their only child.

Then the child had died after taking the wrong medication for what should have been a simple

illness.

He couldn’t accept it. That was why he had eventually…

A thought flashed through my mind, and I couldn’t help but ask:

“Which doctor prescribed the medication?”

The man looked at me with confusion. But he answered honestly. “Dr. Hayes.”

My blood ran cold.

Questions I had ignored suddenly made sense.

Why had Alexander, who was always so careful, prescribed the wrong medication? Why hadn’t the mistake been caught in time?

Because he hadn’t prescribed it.

He had taken the blame for Emily. And that decision had destroyed my life.

The child lay unconscious on the hospital bed.

Despite everything I hated, the child was innocent.

“Anaphylactic shock,” I said firmly.

Alexander’s expression changed.

He immediately moved closer. But Emily stepped in front of him.

“It’s just a mild sedative in the medication.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“Alexander, even you think I made a mistake? Do you doubt my medical judgment?”

She looked wounded.

Tears gathered in her eyes but refused to fall.

Alexander hesitated. Then he stepped back.

“I trust Dr. Hayes’s judgment.”

My fingers trembled.

Even if Alexander didn’t love me, I had never denied that he was a good doctor.

But now he was abandoning his most basic responsibility because Emily had cried.

Anger and old hatred surged through me. I couldn’t hold it back.

“Professional judgment? Is that the professional judgment that leaves a surgical sponge inside a patient’s abdomen?”

The hallway erupted.

“A sponge was left inside the patient?”

“How does someone like that become a doctor?”

“Do we really need to ask? She’s always in the medical director’s office. Guess that’s how she got promoted.”

Emily’s face lost all color. She trembled.

She looked at Alexander.

Then she covered her face and ran.

The patient’s father picked up his son and prepared to transfer him to another hospital.

I finally let out a breath.

Then several security officers rushed through the door.

They grabbed my arms and forced me to the ground.

Bang!

My knee struck the hard floor.

My injuries tore open again. Pain drained the color from my face.

Alexander looked at me coldly.

“Apologize to Emily.”

“Why should I? Did I say anything wrong?”

Seeing my unwillingness to admit defeat, Alexander frowned.

Then he smiled. There was no warmth in it.

“Fine. You don’t have to apologize.”

“Sophia Carter has caused a disturbance and publicly defamed Dr. Hayes. Take her to the police station. Let her cool off.”

His words struck like thunder.

I stared at him in disbelief.

I was taken into police custody. The interrogation room lights hurt my eyes.

My reopened wounds throbbed.

Officers questioned me for hours.

Twenty-four hours later, I was released because there wasn’t enough evidence to hold me.

When I got my phone back, the SIM card was gone.

My social media accounts had also been deactivated.

Coldness spread through my entire body.

To stop me from causing more trouble and protect Emily, Alexander had

gone

this far.

I said nothing. I asked no questions.

I simply called a car and went to the airport.

I was done.

Alexander, for the rest of my life, I never wanted to see you again.

Elsewhere, Alexander had spent a long time calming Emily down. Eventually, she smiled again.

But the look on my face when I left kept bothering him.

Emily noticed.

“Alexander, what are you thinking about? There is a new Thai restaurant nearby. Will you take me

tonight?”

Alexander hesitated. “Emily, I…’

A scream suddenly drowned him out.

He turned around. A delivery truck was speeding toward them. The driver was the same man.

His son had been the victim of Emily’s medical error.

Alexander instinctively moved to shield Emily.

But the next second, Emily shoved him toward the truck.

Then she turned and ran.

Alexander stumbled backward.

He stared at her retreating figure in disbelief.

Bang!

The impact was deafening.

Everything went black.
