I was half-collapsed against the coffee table, hurting too much to straighten up.

The second I saw Mom, my eyes welled up. I couldn’t help it. “Sienna! What happened to you?”

The moment she saw me, the anger on her face vanished, replaced by panic.

She rushed over to help me up, then saw the blood on my lower back.

Her face went pale instantly.

Dad, who had followed her in, dropped his suitcase and strode toward me.

“Why is there so much blood? Who did this?”

Standing in the room, Paige finally understood who these people were.

Her face filled with fear. She backed away, waving her hands. “I-I didn’t mean to. She suddenly rushed at me to grab my phone.”

Then she tugged at Garyson beside her, pleading.

“Grayson, you saw it too. Help me explain! I really didn’t mean to-”

Only then did my parents notice there was an outsider in the house. Their faces went dark.

Mom was on her feet first. She looked at Grayson, still kneeling, not moving an inch.

“Grayson, who is she?”

“Dad, Mom.” Grayson’s voice was rough. “This is my girlfriend, Paige Mercer.”

Paige forced a smile that came out as a grimace. “Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore, hello. My name is Paige

Before she could finish, Mom ignored her completely and turned to Dad.

“Carry Sienna to her room and treat her wound first. I’m calling Dr. Bennett.”

Dad nodded and was about to pick me up when Grayson, still kneeling, suddenly stood.

“Dad, let me -”

“Stay on your knees!” Mom roared.

Grayson flinched and knelt back down immediately.

As I passed Paige, I saw her biting her lower lip, tears already welling in her eyes.

Dr. Bennett arrived quickly.

When scissors cut open my pajamas and exposed the wound, I heard Mom and Dad gasp.

Luckily, it looked terrifying, but no bones or tendons were damaged.

Once everything was handled, Mom helped me to the dining table and ordered Dad to bring me

breakfast.

On his way to the kitchen, Dad ran into Alma, who was wheeling her suitcase. A few words were enough for him to understand.

When he brought breakfast over, his face was ashen. He pulled Mom aside and spoke to her.

Mom’s expression didn’t change. She watched me eat for a while. Then she kissed my forehead and

stood.

A few seconds later, I heard Mom’s authoritative voice behind me.

“Alma, get the family charter.”
