Forced to Take the Blame, Reborn as Silverveil’s Royalty Chapter 11

Forced to Take the Blame, Reborn as Silverveil’s Royalty Chapter 11

My condition kept getting worse.

Between the late–stage wolfsbane poisoning and the wound to my throat, I lived in pain every day.

My parents sold off everything they owned to pay for treatment.

But the doctors only shook their heads and said it was too late.

That night, I lay in bed staring at the ceiling.

My mother sat beside me, holding my hand.

My father stood by the window, his back bent.

They had aged.

It felt like they had grown old overnight.

“Althea,” my mother said softly, “I’m sorry.”

“So am I,” my father said. “I’m sorry

too.”

I said nothing.

A long time passed before I finally spoke.

“I want to see the ocean.”

They froze for a second, then both nodded at once.

“Okay. Okay, we’ll go to the ocean.”

So we went.

The sea was quiet at night, nothing but the sound of the tide rising and falling.

I sat in a wheelchair and looked out at the dark line of the horizon.

“Althea…” My mother crouched beside me, tears running nonstop. “If there’s another life, I’ll love

you the right way. No… not another life. I’ll love you properly in this life. Please don’t leave, okay?”

My father’s eyes were red too.

“Sweetheart, I was wrong. I never should’ve treated you that way. Just give me one chance. Let

make it up to you…”

Nooked at them.

These were the parents I had once hated with everything in me.

Now they were kneeling in front of me, begging for forgiveness. –

But I no longer had the strength to hate them.

And I no longer had the strength to love them either.

“Mom. Dad.” My voice came out soft. “I don’t hate you anymore.”

They both froze.

“But I don’t love you anymore either,” I said. “So let me go. And let yourselves go too.”

“Althea…”

“I want to be alone for a little while.”

They looked at me for a long moment, then finally nodded and stepped back.

I turned toward the ocean.

Moonlight lay over the water in shimmering silver.

It was beautiful.

I thought about that other world.

I thought about Isolde’s life. The mother who made fried eggs, the father who played chess with

me, and Darian with his clear, steady eyes.

Then I closed my eyes.

“System, take me back.”

“Host vital signs failing. Transfer conditions met.”

“Confirm return to the new world?”

“Confirmed.”

“Releasing original–world binding… successful.”

“Initializing transfer…”

My body began to feel lighter.

It felt as though something was being drawn out of me.

I heard my parents calling my name.

I heard them crying.

But their voices kept drifting farther and farther away.

Until all that was left was silence.

When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I noticed was the scent of flowers.

It was lavender.

I was lying in a soft bed, sunlight pouring through the curtains in warm golden lines.

The door opened, and a woman walked in.

When she saw I was awake, she smiled.

“Isolde, you’re awake?” She came over and pressed a hand to my forehead. “Your fever’s gone. Are you hungry? Mom made you some oatmeal.”

I looked at her, at that gentle face, and tears slipped down my cheeks without warning.

“What’s wrong? Are you hurting somewhere?” she asked at once.

I shook my head and threw my arms around her.

“Mom…” I cried like a child. “I’m back.”

She paused, then gently patted my back.

“Silly girl. Did you have a bad dream? It’s okay. Mom’s here.”

Yes, I was back.

I was back in the home where I was truly loved.

The sunlight outside was beautiful.

And I knew that, from this day on, I could finally start living for real.
