Reborn: Revenge On My Wife & Her Fake Confidant Chapter 02 He Had Already Moved In
Once we were outside, Riley broke the silence first.
“That was my free guest appearance. Next time, you owe me a proper dinner.”
The act was over, and exhaustion crashed over me all at once.
I leaned against the cold wall and managed a smile.
“Absolutely.”
Riley fell quiet for a moment before lowering her voice.
“If you seriously mean to divorce her, it won’t be simple. I’ll cover your Dad’s medical bills for now.”
I nodded and thanked her.
After I dropped Riley off, I went straight back to our new house.
The divorce was happening no matter what.
But there was something even more urgent.
I had to find out the truth behind the river-crossing bridge collapse.
I opened the bedroom door, intending to pack.
The room was filled with things that did not belong to me.
The clean, minimalist style I had chosen was gone.
Mason’s clothes hung openly inside my closet.
Everything that had belonged to me had disappeared.
No wonder he had become so brazen.
He had already moved into my home as though it were his.
The bedroom door opened behind me.
Mason stood there with a mocking half-smile.
He looked me over with exaggerated pity.
“Wow. The great Mr. Cole, the man who never thought anyone was worth his time, actually got thrown out of his own house. So tell me, how does it feel?”
I did not even look at him.
I snapped my suitcase shut.
“Where did this barking dog come from?”
“You!”
Mason’s face turned livid.
He glared at me, then suddenly burst into loud laughter, laughing so hard he could barely catch his breath.
“Adrian, pretty soon you won’t even get to play the big boss anymore. I seriously can’t wait to see what you look like after you’ve lost everything.”
My hand stopped.
My heart missed a beat.
The bridge disaster was still a full year away.
So the conspiracy had already started this early.
CRACK!
A sharp, brittle sound exploded through the room.
I turned.
Pieces of a shattered jade bracelet lay scattered across the floor.
It was the keepsake my mother had left me.
Heat surged straight into my head.
“Mason!”
I shot upright and glared at him.
“You touched my things?”
Mason only shrugged.
“Vanessa said I can do whatever I want with anything in this house.”
His smile widened.
“That includes you. Believe me, I could beat you until you couldn’t walk, and Vanessa would probably tell me I did a great job.”
He glanced at the fragments of the bracelet with disgust.
“That ugly thing? How could something like that ever be good enough for her?”
That was the end of my restraint.
I drove my fist into his face with the fury of two lifetimes behind it.
Then I laughed coldly.
“My lawyer will send you the bill for the bracelet.”
I looked him up and down.
“And I really don’t know what you’re so proud of. She’s someone I already threw away. You picked up my leftovers and somehow think you won?”
I gave him a contemptuous smile.
“Or is that what you’re into? Things another man already used? If collecting other people’s trash makes you this happy, open a junk shop.”
Mason clutched his right eye and howled, hatred twisting his face.
I did not look at him again.
I placed the signed divorce agreement on the table.
Then I took my suitcase and walked out.
His furious shouting followed me from the house.
