The great hall looked different in daylight.

The Lycan Court tribunal sat at the raised platform where Callan’s Alpha chair used to be. Aldric occupied the center seat Two senior Lycan justices flanked him Behind them, the Shadowcrest crest hung on the wall–silver wolf on black field, the Moon Goddess’s crescent above

The Ironvale wolves filled the main floor Three hundred of them. The same three hundred who had watched Callan reject me Who had watched Melody take the Luna title Who had stood silent while I was dragged out by Omegas

Now they stood silent for a different reason.

I walked down the center aisle. Nicolas walked beside me–not ahead, not behind. Beside His presence was steady Grounding. The scent–pull between us hummed low in my chest, but I kept my focus forward.

Sera stirred inside me Not anxious. Just awake Watchful

We reached the front. I took my place at the witness stand to Aldric’s right. Nicolas moved to the side, his position formal but his attention entirely on me

Aldric’s voice filled the hall.

“Bring forward the accused.”

The side door opened.

Two Shadowcrest guards entered first. Between them, Callan stumbled forward.

Chain–bound Wrists. Ankles. A thin silver collar around his neck that suppressed any remaining trace of aura.

He looked small

“No,” he said His voice was rough Barely audible

Aldric nodded once

The tribunal finds you guilty,” he said. “The sentence is as follows: permanent wolf dormancy, irrevocable forfeiture of all territorial claims, and exile from all lands under Lycan jurisdiction You will live But you will live without your wolf Without your pack. Without your power

He paused

“Bare your neck

The command was not loud But it carried the full weight of Lycan authority Every wolf in the room felt it. The pressure rolled through the hall like a physical force

Callan’s head dropped. Slowly His neck bent forward, exposing the line of his throat

I walked down from the witness stand. I crossed the floor I stopped in front of Callan

He was still on his knees. Still baring his neck. But now his eyes lifted. He looked at me.

His lips moved. His voice cracked.

“Ivanna,” he said. “Please”

I did not answer immediately. I just looked at him.

This man had killed my father.

I crouched down slowly, bringing myself to his eye level. The hall was completely silent.

“You stood in this room,” I said quietly, “and you spoke a vow. Do you remember it?”

Callan’s face twisted “Ivanna, l-‘

‘Do you remember it?‘ I repeated

He closed his eyes A single tear slid down his cheek

‘Yes, he whispered

I straightened I looked down at him My voice was calm Even The same tone I had learned over five years of suppression

“I, Ivanna,” I said, “reject you, Callan, as my mate

The words landed like stones in still water

Callan’s eyes flew open His mouth opened But no sound came out

I held his gaze.

“You taught me,” I said, “that bonds can be broken. That vows can be spoken That the Moon Goddess’s gift can be discarded

I turned my back

It echoed once through the great hall

I did not look back. I walked toward the door. Nicolas fell into step beside me Aldric rose from the tribunal seat and followed

I faced forward again. I stepped through the doorway. Sunlight hit my face.

Nicolas walked beside me down the hall steps. At the bottom, he paused. He extended his hand.

I looked at his hand. Then at his face. His eyes–steady, patient, holding nothing but quiet certainty.

Inside my chest, Sera hummed. The scent–pull between us settled like a breath held too long finally released.

I took his hand.

His fingers closed around mine. Warm Steady

We walked through the gate together Behind us, Ironvale’s territory passed into Lycan Court administration Thomas’s cabin stood intact at the border, the small carved wolf still resting on the windowsill

Inside my sleeve, its twin pressed against my wrist
