His Assistant Gave the Bride Rules?! She Didn’t Know Who She Was Messing With Chapter 10

The instant Chloe lunged, the two bodyguards behind me moved.

They caught her wrists from either side before the knife reached me. One guard struck it from her

hand, and it skidded across the pavement.

Chloe twisted violently between them, fighting to break free.

Her hair hung over her face, and her eyes were bloodshot. She kept screaming threats

“You did this. You ruined my life. If you hadn’t interfered, I would be Mrs. Carter by now. I could have had money and everything I deserved.”

She threw her weight from side to side, but the guards held her in place.

When she realized she couldn’t reach me, all her hatred swung toward Ryan.

She slammed her shoulder into him, catching him off guard and wrenching one arm free.

“This is your fault too, you lying coward. Every promise you made me was worthless. You destroyed everything.”

In the confusion, she dove for the knife on the pavement and drove it into Ryan’s chest.

He grunted in pain as blood spread across his shirt.

The two people who had once protected each other had finally turned on each other completely.

Within moments, Ryan was losing consciousness. Chloe knelt on the pavement, laughing

hysterically.

I called 911 and gave the dispatcher a clear account of the attack.

Police and paramedics arrived within minutes. Chloe was arrested, and Ryan was rushed to the

hospital.

Chloe was later convicted of attempted murder and aggravated assault and sentenced to prison.

Investigators also proved Ryan had falsified revenue, diverted company funds, and forged contracts. He would face criminal charges of his own if he survived.

His stab wound left him in critical condition. After emergency surgery, he remained in the ICU, and no one knew whether he would recover enough to leave the hospital.

At last, the entire ugly ordeal was over.

Once the legal and business matters were under control, I made time for Claire.

The damage from those three years ran deep. Many nights, grief still overwhelmed her.

I never told her to hurry up and forget. I simply stayed beside her and helped her find small ways to breathe again

When she began to feel steady, I offered her a position at Hartwell Capital.

Claire looked at me, and for the first time in months, she looked hopeful again.

I gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze.

“You don’t owe your life to a relationship that turned toxic. You don’t have to build your future

around a man’s promises.

“You chose the wrong person. That doesn’t mean your life is over. Walk away, learn from it, and start again. It’s never too late.

“Besides, you’re still young. Right?”

In the months that followed, Claire poured her energy into her new career. She stopped blaming herself and grew more confident every day.

The ruined wedding became one painful chapter she had finally closed. Free from the relationship that had trapped her, she stepped into a life that was truly her own.
