He Showed No Mercy When I Gave Birth Chapter 08 The Divorce Decree

I was about to tell the butler to throw him out when Rosalie rushed in and dropped to her knees

before me.

“Iris, please lift the curse on Adrian. If he falls, my son and I will be thrown out of the Sterling family.”

For a second, I almost laughed.

Now that I looked back, the truth was obvious.

Rosallie had framed me last time.

She wanted me out of the Sterling family.

She’could not allow anyone to threaten her son’s place as the Sterling heir.

And sure enough, her next sentence exposed her.

“If you’re still angry about what happened last time, I’ll do anything to make it up to you. Just please save Adrian.”

Adrian frowned.

Something seemed to click in his mind, though not completely.

But once suspicion took root, he only had to look back to see how many things had never added up.

That night, Rosalie had just woken from a nightmare.

Right after that, a spiritualist had shown up at the door, offering a solution.

It had been far too convenient.

And while Eleanor had never liked Rosalie, she had no reason to frame a younger woman for no benefit.

Five years ago, after the car accident, Adrian had spent four months in the ICU. His injuries were so severe that even his attending physician had nearly given up. Yet somehow, I had brought him back from the edge.

Back then, Adrian thought I was only being clever. He believed I had used saving his life as a way to

force myself into his world. In his mind, my goal had always been simple.

I wanted him to marry me.

As for the blood transfusions, he had dismissed them as some strange treatment for the damage left by the accident.

Eleanor had told him again and again that I had paid an unimaginable price to give him a second life. But Adrian had always believed I was only feeding her lies. He had never taken it seriously.

That was why he had given the final dose of blood to Rosalie without the slightest hesitation.

But now, as he thought back, he remembered it clearly.

Every time my blood entered his body, the heaviness in his limbs would disappear.

His breath would come easier.

His whole body would feel brand-new.

Adrian squeezed his eyes shut.

He must have been insane to believe Rosalie’s lies.,

Her so-called weakness had probably been nothing more than an excuse to make him hurt me.

Regret finally covered his face.

“Iris, I’m sorry. I was blind. I understand now. Rosalie framed you. She bribed the doctor to lie about her dangerous labor complications.

“I should have believed you. You loved me so much. How could you ever hurt me?”

Before I could answer, Rosalie’s eyes filled with tears.

“Adrian, you promised you would protect me for the rest of your life. How can you doubt me now? I don’t even know that spiritualist or that doctor.”

She reached for Adrian’s sleeve out of habit.

He pushed her away.

Rosalie looked at me, hatred flashing in her eyes.

Tsmiled calmly.

Rosalie Sullivan,

you were next.

My blood could keep a person alive.

But without my heart’s blood as the anchor, the blood parasites would devour the heart instead.

The victim would suffer for 49 days.

Then the blood would pour from their eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.

Only then would they die.

So enjoy being Mrs. Sterling while you still can.

I had run out of patience.

I waved them away.

Before he left, Adrian looked at me with a heavy, unreadable gaze.

“Iris, I know you’re still angry with me. Wait for me. Once I’m cured, I’ll come take you home.”

I sat on the sofa without moving.

The disgust rising inside me would not stop.

After what felt like a long time, Elias Vane came to my side and handed me the divorce decree.

I did not ask how he had gotten it without Adrian’s cooperation.

Elias had stayed by my side all these days.

We had known each other for more than twenty years. Of course I understood what he felt for me.

But I had just walked out of a marriage soaked in betrayal and pain. I could not step into a new relationship so quickly.

It would not be fair to him.

Elias understood what I could not say.

He looked at me with quiet devotion.

“iris, no matter what happens from now on, I will always protect you.”
