Not Their Daughter, Just the Mistress Chapter 02

Not Their Daughter, Just the Mistress Chapter 02

I cried for hours after.

I’d just lost my virginity to a man I couldn’t even name, a man with the worst temper I’d ever seen. My parents were going to kill me.

My sobbing woke him up. I curled into the corner of the bed with my hands over my ears.

I braced for him to start cursing again.

Instead, he came closer. His thumb caught the tears sliding down my cheek, and his voice dropped to something I’d never heard from him before: soft.

“Don’t cry. That’s on me.”

“You drugged me last night, but I’m the one who lost control… I take full responsibility.”

“I’ll make this right.”

Some broke, nameless guy wanted to make it right?

I cried harder and wailed that I was not about to marry some nobody, move to the suburbs, pop out his kids, and spend the rest of my life living paycheck to paycheck.

Then Everett healed. Checked out of the hospital. And took me home.

His estate made my family’s house look like a guest cottage.

The “girlfriend allowance” he tossed my way without blinking was more than my parents had given me in a decade.

My tears dried up on the spot. I threw myself into his arms and turned on every ounce of charm I had.

“Baby… that thing you said about making it right, did you mean it?”

Everett’s breath caught.

The man had zero defenses when it came to me.

From that day on, I became a bottomless pit. Shopping sprees, luxury hauls, burning through cash like it meant nothing.

Everett never said a word about the spending. The only place he ever made demands was in bed.

Every time, he’d coax me into kissing him first, into saying I loved him, and by the end I’d be so dazed I barely knew my own name. Then he’d spoil me even harder the next day, like a reward.

After long enough, I convinced myself that was love.

People say a man shows love with his wallet. And Everett’s black card didn’t have a limit.

So when that pregnancy test came back positive, my first thought wasn’t panic. It was hope. A real family, finally.

Then the comments came back.

[You think getting knocked up means he’ll marry you? Keep dreaming.]

[If Everett wanted to marry you, he would’ve done it years ago. Wake up.]

[You stupid drama queen. Once he figures out how he really feels, he’s going to make you pay for everything. And when the FMC starts crying? Get ready to meet the lion…]

“…”

Three years of being spoiled had almost made me forget.

Outside these walls, Everett was the kind of man people didn’t say no to, because the ones who did stopped breathing.
