They Pawned My Health For Her Happiness. And Now I’m Dead Chapter 04

The words barely left his mouth when a flash of white light was through the darkness.

A voice echoed from nowhere, “Transaction complete.”

Luca let out a long breath.

He turned and hurried out, already pulling out his phone to text Celine.

[Celine, don’t worry. I’ll be right back.]

The moment his foot hit the street outside, the voice came again.

“Transaction complete.”

I wiped the tears from my face.

Same words. Different deal.

This time, it was between me and the pawn shop.

I was trapped. Stuck by Luca’s side.

Couldn’t move more than a few feet away.

A month passed.

Then Iris went into early labor. Rushed to the hospital.

On the way, she gripped my mother’s hand tight.

After the panic faded, her face changed.

“This isn’t right,” she said, “All her numbers were normal. Why would she go into labor early?”

My mother froze. Then it clicked.

“Someone’s trying to hurt Celine? Who? Who would do something so cruel?”

Iris didn’t answer. But the silence said enough.

“It’s Nova!” my father shouted, face red with rage.

“How could she do this to Celine? That’s her own sister! Her own nephew!”

Luca stared at his phone for a long time. His forehead creased.

“The video didn’t go out,” he said slowly, “Maybe it’s not Nova. Maybe it’s just a fluke—”

“It’s her!” My mother’s eyes went wide. Her voice cracked.

“Who else would be this vicious?”

“Who else would target Celine?”

“She couldn’t keep her man, so now she’s taking it out on her own sister?”

The words seemed to drain her.

My father held her up as she struggled to catch her breath.

Finally, she spoke again, low and hoarse,

“Iris. Release the video.”

Iris didn’t hesitate. She nodded.

But Luca stopped her,

“Wait. Nova hasn’t even come home lately.”

“Wait for what?” My father said, “She’s twisted. God knows what else she’s hiding.”

“Coming home or not—it doesn’t change who she is.”

His voice rose, almost shaking.

“People like her? What happened back then—being passed around like that—she probably deserved it.”

“Probably asked for it. Maybe she wanted Celine to feel guilty for the rest of her life!”

He was panting now. Barely holding it together.

“Post it. I don’t have a daughter anymore.”

Luca paused. Then nodded.

Iris’s fingers moved. The video went live.

Within minutes, it hit the trending page. Views climbing by the second.

Someone in the hallway outside the OR scrolled past it.

Curiosity got the better of them. They clicked.

My screams echoed through the corridor.

They grimaced. Kept fast-forwarding.

Near the end, my mother appeared.

Sitting on the couch at home. Hands clenched. Hesitating.

“Anyone who knows Nova knows she was hurt once—trying to save Celine.”

“But the truth is…”

She stopped. Let the silence hang,

“She brought it on herself.”

She didn’t say another word.

But she didn’t need to.

The internet did the rest.

Someone dug up my university name.

Tagged my old classmates. Vague replies led to worse guesses.

The comment section turned into a sewer.

One stranger hesitated. Then walked up to my mother.

Before they could speak, she was already crying.

“Every word in that video is true,” she sobbed,

“Nova is low. Vicious. She always has been.”

She sounded so convincing.

I listened. Felt nothing but pity for myself.

The stranger leaned in, asking more. Turned on a livestream.

Then the OR doors swung open.

The doctor stumbled out. Face white. Legs giving out.

He dropped to his knees.

“It’s… it’s bad!”
