No Longer Your Joke: A Luna’s Exit Chapter 05

Ravencrest Academy Admissions Office.

The admissions counselor scanned the list of incoming freshmen, her brow furrowing.

“We don’t have a freshman/named Isolde Veyra registered here,” she said.

My mom shook her head in disbelief. “That’s impossible! We were here yesterday-she registered her luggage at the gatehouse.”

The counselor shook her head.

“We do have a record of that.”

“But it also shows she voluntarily withdrew her admission yesterday.”

“The withdrawal was submitted and approved.”

Lucian’s voice turned sharp. “Are you kidding me? She was enrolled yesterday.”

My dad’s face darkened, and he let his Alpha presence bear down on everyone. “I need to see proof. Or Blackthorn Pack won’t let this slide.”

The security officer nearby let out a cold laugh.

“So what?” he said. “This is Ravencrest Academy, not some Pack territory.”

“Every student here chooses their own future.”

He paused, then squinted.

“Wait. I know who you’re talking about.”

He pulled up the surveillance footage.

On the screen, a girl dragging a suitcase was saying it with her own mouth-she was withdrawing.

“See for yourselves,” he said. “She asked to withdraw yesterday. You can hear it clear as day.”

“Ravencrest Academy is a dream school for so many wolf students. We’ve had maybe three voluntary withdrawals in the last ten years. She was that special-of course I remember!”

He paused, his voice growing colder.

“A kid would rather give up an opportunity like this than stay.”

“You really think the problem is all on her?”

My mom’s lips parted like she wanted to explain, but the words got stuck in her throat.

Because suddenly, she remembered things from years ago.

At Nessa’s coming-of-age ceremony, they’d given her a five-thousand-dollar gift.

Isolde got fifty.

On Isolde’s birthday, she’d carefully asked for a new dress.

The next day, that dress was on Nessa.

Lucian stayed quiet too.

He’d known I was being messed with his whole life, but he never did anything about it.

He always thought it was just pups playing around.

But now, hearing me say “leave” with his own ears…

His chest tightened.

“Mom, Dad,… is Isolde actually mad?” he asked.

My mom started crying, like she was the one who’d been wronged.

“Mad? What right does she have to be mad?”

“I fed her, I clothed her, I gave her my youth, my everything! And she repays me by threatening to drop

out?”

Students passing by turned to stare.

My mom didn’t even notice.

“All these years, besides studying, has she ever had to worry about anything?”

“I was there, her dad was there, Lucian was there-she’s never had to struggle a day in her life!”

“Now she finally gets into Ravencrest Academy, and she wants to throw it all away?”

“I’ve done everything I could. From now on, she can do whatever she wants.”

“Even if she regrets it later? Don’t come crying to me!”

With that, she climbed into the back of the Bentley.

But as the door closed, the woman once known as the gentle Luna looked scared for the first time.

My dad patted Lucian’s shoulder. “Find out where Isolde went.”

“She’s impulsive at this age. If she gets mixed up with the wrong people, it’ll tarnish the Veyra name.”

Lucian nodded. He immediately forwarded my withdrawal news to Nessa and Declan.

[Wait-Isolde dropped out?1

Nessa blasted the news to every group chat I was in.

Declan replied casually: [I always said Isolde only got into Ravencrest by luck anyway.]

Lucian frowned.

He didn’t like seeing that.

But after a few seconds of silence, he typed out a message anyway.

[Isolde’s being so immature. What’s she going to do with some average degree?]

[She wouldn’t even get hired for Pack logistics.]

He hit send.

He didn’t notice, right at that moment-

a new email had quietly popped up.
