My Boyfriend & BFF Pranked Me At Our Wedding, I Dumped Both Of Them Chapter 01

My boyfriend Ethan Cole and my best friend Vanessa Reed gained a million followers by pranking me.
Despite my crippling fear of heights, they coaxed me onto a bungee platform. Another time, they locked me in a pitch-black prop room.
I cried out Ethan’s name, but from behind the camera, he said, “Wait a little longer. This clip is going to go viral.”
Afterward, he held me and soothed me. “Once I’ve made enough money, I’ll give you the wedding of your dreams.”
I believed him and spent six months planning it myself.
Then, on our wedding day, I stood outside the dressing room and heard Vanessa ask with a laugh,
“When Nora walks in wearing her wedding gown and realizes it’s my 1-million-follower celebration, do you think she’ll burst into tears?”
Ethan laughed too. “Remember to zoom in. This livestream will make enough to support us for a year.”
I looked down at the wedding schedule I had checked more than a dozen times.
So the wedding I had carefully prepared was nothing but a script for them to farm traffic.
Six years of love was nothing but his certainty that I would never leave.
I took out my phone and replied to the overseas offer
I’d been sitting on for so long.
Nora: I accept the offer.
I’m done with the wedding. And I’m done with this man.’
I dragged the wedding dress back to the end of the hallway.
After replying to the email, I called the event planning company.
“Hello, Ms. Carter?” The coordinator answered quickly. “Don’t worry. You’ve gone over tonight’s schedule more than a dozen times. Everything will be perfect.”
I paused. “I want to cancel the wedding.”
The other end went silent for several seconds.
“But the event you booked isn’t a wedding.”
My hand tightened around the phone.
“You did reserve the venue for a wedding 6 months ago, but Mr. Cole later brought in the booking and changed it. The current event sheet lists a celebration banquet. It’s a joint fan appreciation banquet and a-million-follower celebration for Mr. Cole and Ms.
Reed. Mr. Cole changed the event name last week.
He said he’d discussed it with you and asked us to keep your original decorations.”
“But I only confirmed the entrance music yesterday.”
I opened the schedule in my hand. It still bore the changes I had written in last night.
“What about the bridal entrance and the exchange of rings?”
The coordinator hesitated.
“The bride’s entrance is being kept — it’s the surprise segment of the celebration. The ceremonies after that have all been canceled.”
My grip creased the paper.
‘All he wants is those few minutes of me walking in wearing my wedding gown. Nothing else matters to him.’
I closed my eyes and remembered that afternoon six months ago.
For once, Ethan hadn’t been hunched over his computer editing videos. He had smiled at me and said, “Nora, let’s get married.”
From that day on, I sketched wedding dresses, scouted venues, and even tried the menu three times.
Every time, he said, “Whatever you like.”
I had thought he wanted me to have the best of everything.
“Ms. Carter?” The coordinator raised her voice.
“What should we do with the venue today?”
“Keep it.” An eerie calm settled over me. “It has nothing to do with me anymore.”I ended the call and took a cab straight home.
The company sent another message.
Event Coordinator: The champagne tower has been set up with three tiers, just as you requested. Does it look all right?
Three tiers. For the past, the present, and the future we’d share.
Back in college, Ethan promised me a lifetime.
His palms had been sweaty with nerves. I had teased him, only to find myself tearing up too.
When the coordinator asked how many tiers I wanted for the champagne tower, I had barely hesitated.
Now I stared at the photo from the venue. Beside the three-tier champagne tower were Ethan’s and Vanessa’s names.
As soon as I got home, Ethan started calling me again and again.
Messages kept popping up too.
Ethan: Nora, where the hell are you? How could you disappear on a day this important?
Ethan: Can you act like an adult for once? Do you really have to keep everyone waiting?
Ethan: You have 10 minutes to get over here. We’re in a serious bind!
I typed a reply.
Nora: Do you even remember what today was supposed to be?
He didn’t reply until after a long silence.
Ethan: You found out? Ethan: We hid it from you for the livestream. Once the video’s done, the wedding will go on as planned.
Vanessa messaged me too.
Vanessa: Nora, what’s wrong?
Vanessa: The wedding can still happen after we finish filming. Don’t overthink it, okay?
I didn’t reply. I logged out directly.
Then I booked a flight to Belvaria for the following Monday.
I had four days before the flight, enough time to finish handing over my work at the studio and collect the things I had left here.
I hadn’t told them that I was moving abroad. I only wanted to pack my belongings and leave quietly.
Sitting alone on the couch, I received a notification that their livestream had begun.
The screen showed the venue I had painstakingly prepared for my wedding.
Ethan and Vanessa stood at center stage. The audience below held up glowing signs and chanted wishes for everlasting love.
Vanessa held a bouquet of white tulips.
It was the bridal bouquet I had chosen for myself.
The host worked hard to keep the crowd excited.
I curled my legs against my chest and watched in silence.
The host handed Ethan the microphone. “Ethan, now that you’ve gone from zero to a million followers, who would you most like to thank?”He thanked his fans, and then gave special thanks to Vanessa.
Vanessa’s eyes went red, and he reached out to wipe her tears.
The crowd below egged them on even louder.
When I was locked in the prop room, eyes swollen from crying, all he cared about was getting a close-up.
His voice caught. “And finally… thank you, everyone.”
Not one word about me.
I closed the livestream and blocked their channel.
