My Fiancé Confessed His Betrayal Chapter 02

My Fiancé Confessed His Betrayal Chapter 02 Everyone Knew

Ignoring the blood trickling from his temple, Shane looked at Wynne.

“What about you? When have you ever thought about yourself?”

Watching their tragic romance unfold made my stomach turn.

I turned to leave, but my captain, Garrett Thorne, pushed the door open and blocked my way.

“Liz, Wynne just wants a family. Don’t hold it against her.”

I struggled to find my voice. “So you knew too? You deliberately sent me away during last week’s operation?”

Garrett sighed.

“Liz, there were 100 hostages in the Skybridge kidnapping, and Wynne was the only one who survived.

“She looked up to you as a sister. You’ve cared for her all this time–so if she made a mistake, didn’t you fail to guide her right?

“Stop giving her a hard time. She lost her entire family in that case. She’s a victim.”

A victim?

Back then, I pitied her for losing her family, so I took her in and treated her like my own flesh and blood.

Yet Garrett conveniently forgot that his mentor–my father–sustained catastrophic injuries saving Wynne during that rescue, falling into a coma before eventually passing away.

“Liz, if you’re angry, you can hit me, but please don’t hate Shane,” Wynne whimpered, stepping toward me.

In one swift motion, I ripped my father’s protective charm from her neck.

Wynne let out a small gasp. Instantly, Shane’s face darkened, and he shoved me away.

I stared at him in utter disbelief.

“I’ll drive you home so you can calm down,” Garrett offered softly.

Without a backward glance, Shane snapped, “Wynne was scratched. I’m taking her to the hospital. We’ll deal with our mess later.”

On the drive home, my phone buzzed.

“Liz Vance, if you’re bitter, target me! Don’t pull these dirty, low–class tricks!”

Hearing his harsh voice, Garrett slammed on the brakes, sending my head crashing into the dashboard.

Shane fired over a screenshot. Someone had uploaded photos of Wynne and me outside City Hall.

Wynne was circled with the caption: So young, yet she chose to be a home–wrecking mistress.

“It wasn’t me,” I replied coldly.

“Besides, did they say anything wrong?”

“Enough!” Shane cut in irritably.

“Wynne never tried to compete with you! Why can’t you tolerate her? She’s nothing like you, so don’t throw your cheap tactics at her.”

Garrett frowned slightly. “Liz, your dad gave his life to save her. Do you really have the heart to watch her reputation get destroyed?”

Before I could answer, a text from Wynne flashed on my screen:

“Liz, I would never fight you for anything. I was going to convince Shane to apologize to you.”

“It’s all my fault. He insisted on blindfolding me earlier and kept making me guess what position was next.”

“I was so worried about you that I kept guessing wrong, making him even angrier. You should stay away for now.”

I squeezed my phone until my knuckles turned white and turned off the screen.

Noticing my silence, Garrett softened his tone. “Present Wynne with her award at her

graduation ceremony. That will kill the rumors once and for all.”

Shane offered a condescending promise. “Once the ceremony is over, we’ll go get our marriage license.”

“Don’t bother. You make me sick,” my voice rasped.

“Shane, are you really that desperate for sex? Trying out endless tricks?”

Shane froze for a second. Realizing what I was referring to, he let out a bitter scoff.

“What, you find that disgusting? Being used as a thrill tool isn’t a first for you anyway.”

My eyes turned bloodshot. “What did you say?”

“Remember your dad’s funeral, when Wynne called crying to comfort you?”

I vaguely recalled that period–Shane had supposedly been away on business, while Wynne was busy working on her graduation thesis.

“I was right behind her the whole time. I heard every single word you said, but I didn’t stop moving for a second.

“I was driving into her so hard she couldn’t catch her breath, yet there you were, comforting her.”

Every drop of blood in my body froze solid. For the very first time in my life, I truly loathed this world.

The system’s cold voice chimed inside my head.

“Host’s urge to abandon mission surging. Termination time halved. Countdown: 24 hours.”

I clenched my fists and spoke into the phone, my voice dead calm.

“Fine. Her graduation ceremony.”

“I’ll be there.”
