He Drew $9 For Our Wedding. Another Man Offered a Million Chapter 03

At the hospital, my father was rushed into surgery.

Before I could sit down, a nurse told me to pay the deposit.

Thirty thousand. The emergency fund I’d been quietly saving.

I opened my phone—and saw only outgoing transactions.

All from twelve minutes ago.

My thirty thousand, drained completely.

The recipient was a luxury store.

I almost collapsed.

“Finn, that was my father’s life-saving money. Give it back.”

I called him.

Loud music blasted on his end, “Oh, that? I used it to apologize to Blair on your behalf.”

“And your dad—next time, don’t let him lie down wherever he wants at his age.”

Blair’s voice cut in, “I don’t usually wear clothes in that price range.”

“But for Finn’s sake, I accepted your apology.”

I squeezed my palm, “What do I have to do to get it back?”

His voice went cold, “I told you. You’ll beg.”

I didn’t hesitate, “I’m sorry, Blair. It was all my fault.”

“Please give the money back.”

Laughter followed, “Lena, I just drew a huge number just now—99 dollars.”

“You should be grateful I’m not upset and even raised your limit…”

I hung up.

I nearly passed out.

“Lena.” My mother caught me, her eyes burning with anger and hurt.

I pulled her close, “Mom, I’m fine. Stay with Dad. I’ll figure this out.”

I would.

I went back to the apartment Finn and I shared and took the property deed.

But at the bank, the manager returned it with a smile.

“Ms. Vance, you’re not the owner of this property. You can’t mortgage it.”

My fingers went cold. I opened the deed.

Blair’s name was on it.

I remembered Finn saying he knew someone who could get us a better deal.

I hadn’t gone to the signing—I’d had an experiment that day.

This was everything my parents had.

They’d even sold their house and land back home without telling me.

My mind went blank. When I came to, I was at a jewelry store.

I put the ring on the counter, “How much can I get for this?”

The clerk pushed it back, “Miss, are you sure this is a W brand ring?”

“Yes. How much?”

“This ring is fake. No gold content at all.”

Finn had bought it with a 9.9 draw.

I thought maybe—just once—he’d thought I was worth it.

I dialed a number I swore I’d never call, “I accept your offer. One million.”

“Good. I want to see you at the company in three days.”

Within minutes, the money hit my account.

I walked out of the store—and Finn grabbed my arm, shoving me back inside.

“You tried to sell my ring?”
